Reese Witherspoon has celebrated her daughter’s sweet 16th with a special post on social media.

The star welcomed Ava Elizabeth with her then-husband Ryan Phillippe in 1999, and the years have just flown past (with Ava looking so much like her very famous mum).

Taking to Instagram, Reese posted a collage of photos of Ava, with the beautiful caption:

“Wow! My sweet girl turns 16 today! I am so blessed to have such a kind, compassionate, brilliant, artistic, all-around wonderful daughter who makes me a better person everyday!”

“I ❤ you!”

The pair have a very close relationship, with Reese taking Ava on a girls trip to Italy earlier in the year.

Reese was only 23 when Ava was born, and despite being young, she revealed to Elle last year that “Somebody was saying to me the other day, ‘Oh, people get less interesting when they have kids.’ I just don’t think that’s true.”

“I feel like I was so confused before I had kids, I almost got in my own way.”

Reese is also mum to 11-year-old Deacon with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe and after marrying her second husband Jim Toth 4 years ago, the star welcomed her youngest son Tennessee in 2012.

The family is often seen out and about in LA, and we love that she looks just like a ‘normal’ mum – jeans or shorts and comfy flats (and we think her tote is probably filled with all the essentials).
