Its a must have for all kitchens. The double drawer really makes life a lot easier. Using the top drawer, means we run the dish drawer once a day when it is full but not over loaded. As a result there is no wastage or spoilage. The other advantage to the top drawer mean you don’t have to bend your back. My family are all tall people so this is an advantage that is not lost on us!

We have owned a Fisher & Paykal Double Dish-Draw Dishwasher for almost 5 years and it is amazing! I love that it has an easy to use child lock so my toddler cannot interfere with a wash cycle. Dishes come out beautifully clean 99% of the time, and it fits a huge amount inside - more than you might think. I love that we can run just one draw at a time, and feel this saves some water.
The only downside is you can't use just any dishwasher tablets or powder with it. Some brands are too foamy, made to meet the needs of full size dishwashers. Otherwise though, a great machine. Highly recommend.

They are so silent when working too. The double drawer by Fisher and Paykel has been around for years, and the latest models are incredibly environmentally friendly. I like that you can adjust amount of rinseaid to suit your water harshness. Another great point, is that you should only use powder in your dishwasher, as the tablets can clog the pipes after frequent use.

One of my favourite features is the fast wash option as with a busy family, I’m forever trying to get things done in a hurry, especially the washing up. Popping on the Fast Wash option means the washing up is done in no time and I don’t have to worry about having no clean dishes to use.
The Extra Dry option is also a huge helping hand. My old dishwasher didn’t dry anything properly, so I was forever drying all the plates, cutlery and glasses before putting them away. This problem is long gone with the Extra Dry option – all the kitchen items come out dry and ready to put away.

I love, love, love the Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer and I seriously miss my old one. When we buy a house down the track I'll be making sure to get another. It's great to be able to have a dishwasher in use and still be able to fill the second draw. You need never have dirty plates on the kitchen bench AT ALL. It's great. The only problem that I did have is that some of the larger cooking pots didn't quite fit into the DishDrawer but I think there are probably other regular dishwasher models that wouldn't fit them either.

I have to mention what wonderful materials have been used to make this fisher and paykel dishwasher - I have had this dish washer for a few months now and it's so easy to clean - especially the pull out draw - it's like they have coated it in silicone so it's easy to wipe clean. We have had our dish drawers for over 12 years since we built our house and I cannot imagine ever going back to one door dishwasher. The convenience of running multiple cycles during a day and not leaving caked on dirty dishes waiting for it to fill up like a one door is great. Fantastic for parties and party prep. I love it so much so that in our new house we are going to build we are going to do 3 drawers, 2 in the kitchen and one in the butler pantry and we will also do the 2 side by side not one under each other.

We had our first party on the weekend since have the new dishdrawer installed. The dual drawers is fantastic. I cleared the table after entrée and threw everything in the smaller drawer. I turned it on as its so quiet no one even noticed. After desert everything went straight into the larger drawer. I turned that on also. This kept our kitchen looking clean and it meant by the time our guests left the dishes were already spotless and dry!

After a good 3 weeks of solid dual dishwashing - I thought I might try and clean the filter area as I noticed some residue on some dishes in a few of my most recent washes. I found it really challenging trying to remove the racks from both the dish drawers....and I think it's because of the compartment where you put the dishwashing powder and rinse-aid....it stops the racks from easily lifting out so you can access the filter....sad face.

I do not know if anyone else has picked up on this or not, but every bag mentioned in the table above is a ‘designer’ brand. There are plenty of more affordable options that aren’t over $40. I have never spent that much on a lunchbox – even from Smiggle. The cheaper brands last just as well too.
Getting ready for the return to school has started to kick in so this was a timely read. We have the yum box and i love it, it is so easy for my daughter to open and close on her own. I find the lunch cooler bags also a great idea however some days depending on what else needs to go to school, they can be quite bulky to include in the school bag. Lunch boxes have come such a long way since my eldest was a kid, he’s now 26! There’s really a solution to everything from food heating, cooling, dividers, pockets etc etc. Lunch boxes are a real fashion accessory and so on-trend these days. I personally love the Bento lunch boxes. They save on plastic and separate different foods.

So so many fantastic options! We use the montii co ones for our kdis and swear by it. Its lasted 3 years so far and still standing strong, like new since the first day using it. They are so durable and i find cleaning them to be the easiest for us.
There are so many great lunch box option out there indeed ! I’ve always liked the Bento style lunch boxes for my kids. It reduces the use of plastic lunch bags and packaged food which aren’t very good for the environment and it encourages to present a good variety of foods (which is not only better nutrition wise but lao to prevent our kids from getting bored with same foods all the time.
There are some really fabulous options here. So many variations of colour, shape and size. I love the bento style lunch boxes, so handy to keep food separate and eliminate the use of plastic packaging. The machine washable bags are a great idea too. They can get grubby so fast, this would be so much easier to maintain
This has gotten much easier since my kids hit high school – they have strong opinions about their lunch boxes, so I don’t have to think about it so much anymore! However, I am strongly in favor of bento style boxes regardless of their age. They’re easy to clean, easy to pack, and invite appropriate sized portions.
Great article! Our kids are so lucky, when it comes to lunchboxes, they really are spoilt for choice. There are so many to pick from. Regarding sandwiches, my eldest son, used to hate sandwiches for school lunches. It wasn’t until many years later that I discovered that he’d throw out his sandwiches in the playground bins. My son’s an adult now and he still hates sandwiches. He only likes “hot” lunches. So glad he lives on his own now and can make his own “hot” lunches just the way he likes them.

Wow, lunch boxes have really come such a long way from when I was taking a lunch box to school. Feel old, like “back in my day”, but we were lucky to have options like are available now. While I like some of these designs, I feel like they aren’t super practical.
These lunchboxes are beautiful but are they really worth the expensive price tag? I have been through so many lunch boxes and bags over the years and found the best it to use an insulated lunchbox bag with ice brick and use small containers to keep individual items fresh and assessable.
I love the bbox lunch boxes. They are so reliable and tough when kids throw their bags around. Easy to wash and store. I have used the we can be tiny snackies at home too. The boys love choosing a certain animal shape. They wash well, are durable and great quality.
My kids are old enough now to pack their own lunches and I am so happy to see the great choices they are making. They take left over meals, cook food in the morning to take and now I am confident they aren’t throwing away sandwiches! I do have the chilly bags for them, I find they fit better into bags
My daughter uses a bento box now for work and sometimes an insulated bag in summer, but when she was at school it was a rectangular lunch box with no compartments. It was very easy to wash each day, just the box and lid, and it could still be filled with rolls/sandwiches and snacks.
Lunchboxes are so important these days. Back in my day it was a brown paper bag or the exact same lunch box that everyone else had and there were three compartments. Today its such a fashion statement and as much as the lunchbox itself is judged so are the contents.

Fast Wash and Extra Dry
The Extra Dry option is also a huge helping hand. My old dishwasher didn’t dry anything properly, so I was forever drying all the plates, cutlery and glasses before putting them away. This problem is long gone with the Extra Dry option – all the kitchen items come out dry and ready to put away.

Fits the pots and pans
In the Fisher & Paykel Dishwasher, I can adjust the racks and flatten them down completely, which means I can fit all my large pots and pans in without any problems. This saves me a huge amount of time as it means I don’t have to hand wash them all or worry about them breaking any plates or glasses I have included in the wash.

Perfect for when friends come over!
After each course we just popped everything in the drawers and voila – no mess, no fuss! Then once everyone had left, I popped the dishwasher on and everything was taken care of. The kitchen was tidy (no dirty plates lying around), and I knew we’d have sparkling results in the morning, ready for the breakfast rush.
