GRUG THE SUPERHERO

One morning, Grug wakes up and decides to become a superhero.

Wearing a cape and a mask, and a sword made from sticks, Grug and Cara, his best friend, transform the Grugmobile into the Zoom Zoom Car and head off to save someone. But the Zoom Zoom Car has too much zoom and Grug and Cara discover that if they can’t save someone else, they can at least save themselves.

  • Great for toddlers

    Grug is an easily recognizable character for toddlers. One of their first early books to be introduced to, it doesn’t take long for the little ones to become avid readers. Grug is endearing and his travels and actions are simplied for easy understanding. Well done Ted Prior.

  • We love Grug

    My 3 year old boy is obsessed with Grug at the moment. I’m pretty sure we have the whole collection. He definitely has his favourites (Grug plays cricket) but they are such great books for little ones. They are short enough that they hold their attention until you finish. Everyone should have Grug in their lives.

  • Grug in the playground

    I remember back when I was a kid and my Mum would read grug to me and my brothers and sister. Now I continue on with the Grug stories with my 3 children and they are quite happy to listen to these stories. My daughter tells me that it’s an old book if nan read it to me. Grug will always be a hit with kids.

  • My daughter and I read Grug everynight before bed.

    I enjoy reading Grug to my daughter as she gets so much enjoyment out of it, there so easy to follow for youngsters and its simple to understand and not too heavy reading before bed for little ones. The pictures are cute yet telling if your child isn’t quite at the age of understanding the words yet.

  • Grug is Great!

    My 3 year old loves our story time and often reaches for Grug. It is very easy for kids to follow and i often find that she can recall the story quite easily.

    I remember reading grug books growing up and i loved them and all of the different things grug does. Now I can read them with my little Boy and have adventures with grug and each new book. I hope he will enjoy the fun and adventure reading grug, as much as I did when I was a little girl

  • Great grug

    Grug is a great series of books and we absolutely love Grug the Superhero. It is a great book that promotes imagination and encourages kids to have a love of reading and books. My nephew loves to dress up like Superhero Grug and drive a pretend grugmobile. Lots of fun for kids and parents

  • Great reading for kids

    Grug is such a lovable character and there are lots of books in the series to read. Grug the Superhero is a funny story that promotes lots of imagination and play. My nephew just loves this story and he loves to dress up with a sword like Grug. we love the grugmobile as well.

  • Great Grug

    Silly old Grug, Cara and their Grugmobile are such fun for young children to read (or be read to). I love the fact that it is so silly and makes children use their imagination and get a love of reading. Grug comes in a whole series of fun books so they never get boring. Great value in a book.

  • Hooray for Grug and Cara

    Having a boy and a girl, I love finding books that have male and female characters, especially superheroes! I grew up with Grug and was excited to see them back on the shelves after I had first child. It’s a great book for kids, with Grug and Cara as superheros, using their imagination and pretending (just like my kids), so they can relate.

  • Becoming a favourite

    We have been reading this story over the last few weeks and it is starting to become a favourite. My daughter has taken to wearing a blanket around her shoulders and saying she’s a superhero like Grug. It is great for the imagination.

  • A great addition to the series.

    This is a new addition to the ever popular Grug series. It is a short story which should delight young children when shared with an adult.

    It has a simple storyline and lovely illustrations in beautiful eye-catching bright colours.

    It has minimal text in bold print which would make it an ideal story for early independent readers.

  • Grug was around when I was little!

    And NOW my Son also gets to enjoy them. He LOVED this book.. (let’s not lie.. he also loved the other ones we have). Perfect for a 2/3 year old as the wording is short along with the stories. Every child wants to be a superhero.. and it’s good to see the connection that Grugs makes in the same regard. After reading the story to my threenager, he jumped into bed and called his bed his “Zoom zoom car”! Great way to spark imagination and early reading skills! LOVED it and I would recommended ALL of the Grug books for children!

  • Grug is timeless!

    I love grug and so does my son! He will definitely be getting the series for xmas as a surprise from santa. he laughs and is so joyful reading those books.

  • Fun book for kids who are just starting to read

    My 5 year old son really enjoyed Grug The Superhero and now would like me to purchase all the other Grug books. The books are short enough to keep his attention late in the day and small enough to have a book or two in my bag to entertain him in the car or on public transport. Definitely a few more Grug titles going in his Christmas stocking.

  • Very funny super hero - loved by the kids!!!

    Grug the Superhero was a very cute story, it was easy to read & the kids absolutely loved it. It was very funny & cute!! It had the kids wanting to turn the page to see what Grug was going to get up to next. Very entertaining overall – my older son loved reading it & my younger daughter was transfixed by both the words & the pictures to the story. A magical story for both boys & girls to enjoy. This would definitely encourage us to buy other books in the Grug series, as the kids want to know what else Grug gets up to. Grug is an absolutely character that kids can relate to & laugh with – truly memorable!!!

  • Fun, exciting and shows imagination

    Greg brought back good memories for me from my childhood, especially with my brother who read them constantly. This time I get to relive the fun through my children, especially my daughter who got so excited to see Grug the Superhero….. My 3 year old knew who Grug was straight away which was a surprise to me as we don’t have any at home. Her daycare has an outing to the school library once a week and this is where she first discovered Grug. She loves that they are superheroes and pretends to fly sometimes when we read this together. a fun and enjoyable book for my pre schooler!

  • Grug the superhero!

    My toddler loves grug books, they are nice and short, not too many words for a short attention span, and recognisable characters! She loved the superhero element and Grug’s cape. I did find it ended quickly and my daughter seemed a bit confused as to the meaning of the story and what happened, but still enjoyed reading it. Have added it to our many Grug books!

  • A nice storybook

    I showed this book to my 2 year old daughter and she was very excited to have it read to her. We have other Grug books so she recognised him straightaway. I thought the story was nice and simple and easy to read to a 2 year old with a short attention span. She also loved the idea of a superhero and kept wanting to look at the pictures of superhero Grug. A great book to build the imagination of a toddler.

  • A fun book to read

    I sat down with my 4.5 year old daughter and showed her the book. She thought Grug looked funny. She laughed more when I told her his name was Grug. I started to read the book and my daughter was engaged and interested in the book all the way to the end. She said she liked the story and wanted me to read it again! So overall, a very good book to read with your children. Not too long a story either.

  • Grug the Super Hero

    I recieved the book yesterday and as soon as I open it my children yell out yaay another bed time story!

    I love enjoyed reading this book to my children as it has a nice message such as to use their imagination, to not stop believing you can become something you love, to use resources that are around you, and that before you can save somebody else you need to save yourself.
    Thr only part neither of us liked is that the book finishes quite abruptly as one previous reviewer already mentioned.
    Overall a great picture book that you are most likely to enjoy!

  • enjoyable for all ages

    I loved Grug as a kid, for many years, and it’s so nice to see he is still around to share his adventures with my child.
    We collected the book from the parcel collection at the post office early this week and I handed the book to my son as soon as we got back in to the car.
    He was goo’ing and gaa’ing fixated on the tree stumped character. The size of the book for little hands is perfect along with the colors displayed in the book. Later that evening my son and I became caped crusaders along with Grug and Cara and when the story was finished I was pressed to read it all over again………..and again…….and again 🙂 I will definitely add to our Grug collection, it seems fitting to share a character of my childhood with my son.

  • A fantastic picture book that entertains adults and children

    This is a fantastic addition to the Grug collection in any household. Grugs adventures are an easy read and the story is short enough to hold attention even for a young toddler. The pictures are bright and colourful, and there are fun characters to get to know throughout the series. We love the Grug books!

  • Great bedtime reading

    I received this book yesterday and have already read it roughly ten times. My niece thought this book was amazing and wants to be a superhero like grug. Now my sister has to go out and buy more grug books because she enjoyed it so much. I read it to my daughter last night and I have never seen her sit so still whilst I read her a book. It was magic!!! She giggled and smiled so I will definitely be buying more grug books

  • An old favourite with mixed messages

    I was excited to see a new title in the series as it was an old favourite from my childhood.

    I expected adventure and saving the day with an underlying moral triumph, I didn’t expect Grug to want, make and then use swords.

    I really wasn’t comfortable with having violence in a children’s book and I changed the words to the story as I read it to my 12month old son.

  • Son loved the book but it had a typo

    My son (2yrs &10mths) loved the book as he is really into superheroes at the moment – he requested that we read it to him a few times. However my husband and I were a little frustrated at a typo we found in the book. Also, the book is not very long and ends a little abruptly.

  • Enjoyed it

    I have always loved Grug books since i was little. After reading Grug the superhero i quite liked it. Creating capes and masks and swords, teaching children to use their imagination. its wonderful.

  • An okay story - but not a fave

    Grug the super hero is a story aimed for young toddlers. We liked how Greg uses his imagination and tells of the stereotypical super hero in story. We also like how friendship is shown in this book with Grug’a friend Cara so the book caters for boys and girls. However, we found the book a little boring. As the story progressed there was no excitement. It seemed more like statements and the ending just, ended! There was also a printing error “From the top of they hill they rolled.” We didn’t mind the story, however it is not one of the faves that we will read over and over again.
