  • Best on the market love aldi nappies

our son we used Huggies nappies as all the other brands we tried he would at night time, But as he started to get older he started to leak at night time on the huggies nappies so we tryed many different brands and our last brand was to try Aldi (where heard from a friend they where great) and they where right!!! We have never had any issues with them, my daughter who is now 18 months old we put her on huggies but she kept leaking at night time, so i went straight to Aldi and put her on Aldi nappies and once again we have never had any problems with them!!! they are great for the price we pay plus you pay less and get more then the other brands!! and to top it off it stop both of my kids leaking though the night (I can't complain) . The wips I can't complain for $2 (alot other brand like Coles /Woolworths brands for $2 are thin) so you get what you pay for!! plus the wips end up in the bins anyways so I am not complaining for $2 wips (even the bulk wips 240 are great! yes they are thicker and cheaper) aldi is great for nappies, wips I love Aldi nappies

  • Better than I expected..

Thank you so much for letting us trial these products . The nappies last the night for both my boys one is 2 and other 1 and both had no leaks. They were surprisingly very absorbent considering they are much cheaper than other brands . The wipes they were awesome , they were so wet and didn't dry out like some other brands and were great as one of my boys is very sensitive and gets rash easily.

  • Awesome..

These products were better than i expected them to be.

Nappies i usually buy the more expensive brands and was excited to try these. I was very suprised that they are very absorbent and lasted the night no leaks, and they fit well and no red marks.

Wipes they were great .. very soft and wet, the scented ones smell very nice and the unscented great to use when they get nappy rash so it doesnt sting them.

Loved trying these products will definately be getting these products again

  • A brand I trust

I find the wipes to be a good thickness and didn't tear like other brands. They are not over wet and will hold their moisture for quite sometime.

The nappies in all the time I've used them, have never leaked. They are a great fit and don't cause too much irritation. At a great price, I'd always recommend them to family and friends

  • Great Quality and Value

I have used Mamia nappies and wipes with both my children and I can't recommend them enough. I found the nappies to be far more absorbent than more expensive brands and they were one of few brands that actually lasted through the night. The wipes were gentle on my children's skin and didn't cause irritation Even though my children are a little older now I still keep the wipes on hand! I recommend Mamia to all my family and friends.

We love the Mamia range from Aldi - it's so much more affordable than other brands and they work so well. Never had one problem with the nappies and we still use the night nappies and wipes - they don't leak, are comfortable and offer great protection

  • Thanks

After recieiving nappies and wipes to trial, I've actually gone and purchased more myself. I have used the nappies overnight with no leaks! I find that they hold everything inside where it should be with no leaks or explosions. Which is what you want for sure! I would happily by these again and have even told my mum friends who were skeptical like myself. For the price I think these nappies are great!

  • Thanks!

I've been using these nappies on my 4 month old for the past week or so. I have always previously used a much more expensive brand and I have not had a single bad experience which was a surprise. The wipes were tough and smelt great, the nappies didn't leak or leave marks on my chubba bubbas legs. I definitely feel like they have a lot of elastic around the waist which is good when you have a chubby baby. I was scared by using other brands as i thought she might have a reaction to them but I'm really happy with the quality. It would be nice but not essential if they had cuter patterns but its just a nappy and you rarely see them anyway! Thanks Aldi I will happily buy your nappies and wipes again!

  • Happy Babies

I tried both crawler and toddler size, absolutely great, good fit, really absorbent, no red marks, very easy to use, my two daughters-in-law, one with a six month old and the other with a twenty-two month old are very, very happy and will definitely purchase, very grateful for the opportunity to review.

  • Great product

I have been using Mamia nappies & refill wipes (240pkt) for the past 3.5yrs and during this time found them to be great all round products.

    - The newborn & infant nappies have wetness indicators which is great for new babies.

    - The newborn nappies are a really good size (used them for almost 3mths)

    - The refill wipes are thick and just as good if not better than Huggies refill wipes.

    - An issue I did find is, there is no difference in the size of the Toddler (green pkt) & Walker (blue pkt) nappies, it's only the absorbency that's different. Aldi confirmed the size and absorbancy of these nappies after I wrote to them complaining that there didn't appear to be any difference in the nappies.

    - I have found once you get past the Toddler size the nappies are smaller than other brands (Coles, Woolworths).

Overall they are really good products and value for money. I would never hesitate in recommending these products & I will definitely use them again myself.

  • Good quality and good value for money

Mamia nappies are awesome! I have 4 children and have used them on all. We use a mixture of Huggies and Mamia nappies and nappy pants. They are great value for money and work just a good as Huggies. Mamia is a brand I trust and recommend them many times to my fellow mothers and fathers. I do know though I think they work better on girls then boys. We have 3 daughters and didn't have one leakage but with my son especially during the night we have had a couple of leakages manly big wet ones. Wipes are thinner than Huggies but still just as good, does the job that it needs too and great for sticky fingers too.

These nappy's and wipes will definitely save you money especially for myself when my twin girls were in them.

Definitely a nappy and wipes that I would recommend to all mother's in need.

  • Best Nappies and Wipes I've Found

I previously used big brand name nappies and found that they weren't as absorbent or and good value for money as the Mamia brand.

I recommend this brand to everyone!

  • Only for day time

I only tend to buy these nappies in a pinch (when my others aren't on special, or when I am out and need one quickly). I find that they are equivalent to other nappies, except at night time. At night I find that they are not as absorbent and I have to use other brands. Simple packaging. Easy on the wallet.

  • As good as the leading brands!

As a Huggies household I have to say that Aldi's Mamia range of nappies and wipes are up there with quality and even better they come at a cheaper price!

The Mamia food range is also just as good as the other leading brands and our little man especially loves the custard dessert ranges!

  • Get what you pay for.

Mamia nappies are fine during the day but a disaster at night. The sizes never seem to quite match up to the weights though. The newborn size was huge and by the time we got to walkers they were tiny.

I wouldn't even consider using the wipes again. Every time I tried them they were bone dry.

All in all they are cheap for a reason. If you want better quality then spend a bit more money. And definitely spend a bit more for nappies to use at night.

  • Great value

I used mama Mia nappies during the day and huggies at night. My kids are now toilet trained but we used the night nappies during transition and they were great. We still use the wipes too which a great value. Thick and moist with a nice scent or you can get the scent free ones which are just as good.

I really love the aldi baby range. The wipes are thick & smell beautiful! I keep a pack in my car & a pack in the house for cleaning as well. I have used the newborn nappies on three of my children and never had any issues with leakage. I would highly recommend to everyone. Great brand, great price:)

  • Good but not as good as huggies

I think these nappies are fine... better then a lot of others but I am still not converted from

Huggies. I never used them over night but I have noticed them to have a bit of a wee smell. They are pretty good sizing and my bub had no reactions with the material, overall I would use again if I couldn't get huggies

  • Mamia nappies are not suitable for sensative skin

I have 3 kiddies and have found that with each, a different brand of nappy is suitable to them. Unfortunately when I have tried the Mamia brand of nappies on each of my Little Ones, they have all had a varying degree of skin agitation. With my youngest, we thought we would give them a try as I was in my local Aldi store and running low on nappies. After the 1st day my daughter came out in a burn like rash on the area of skin the nappy touched, we thought we would give it a little more time in case it was a coincidence. By the next day, her bottom was so red that we she was not able to wear anything on the bottom for a few days (lucky it was summer so this was not a major issue). I know these nappies are favored by lots of mums and dads. Unfortunately we are not one of them..

  • Best wipes

We always use the Mamia wipes unscented because they are the least reactive on my redheaded baby's sensitive skin. The new thicker premium wipes are great and I find that I need to use less of them during very messy nappy changes. My one complaint is that they never seem to come out of the packs evenly.

The nappies are good for the price and I always have a back up pack available for times when he needs a nappy change when it is not long before his bedtime nappy change.

  • Great value products you can trust

I absolutely love Aldi's Mamia wipes and nappies. Both Miss 10 months and Master 2 use their nappies and the wipes are an essential change table/ nappy bag item. I've tried many of the nappy brands and for the price Mamia are amazing. They are so reliable; no more leaks!

  • Leaps and bounds

I started using the Mamia nappies and wipes for my children, quite some years ago, however only recently I noticed that my nephew was wearing the Mamia brand of nappy and they were also using the wipes. Wow!! I remember these wipes when they originally came to stores and boy-oh-boy have they come leaps and bounds since. I ended up buying wipes to bring home for those sticky face situations. very impressed!!

I love the wipes, they are cost effective and work really well. However I'm just not a fan of the nappies, they leaked on my girls and just didn't hold. Ok for a few hours but nothing more

  • Nappies are not bad

These are not a bad and cheaper alternative to the more expensive nappy brands like Huggies. I have bought these a few times in the past - usually when I miss a Huggies or others sale. They fit well, seems to be quite absorbent - they don't have moist covers when baby finished wearing them, and thus far they have not leaked on my bubs at night.

  • cheap and reliable

It was before Aldi was in SA my MIL from Melbourne bought these over for me and they are great, specifically the nappies. I would not use them at night, but during the day for a day nappy they are completely fine and reliable. They are very cost effective too.

  • Does the job!

I was impressed with the Mamia nappies I tried in 'Crawler' size. The 'front' and 'back' special prints came in handy for both hubby and granny who sometimes struggle trying new nappies! They lasted my baby through the night and were super absorbent. They did smell quite strongly when I opened them initially (chemically?) but that has faded once I took all the nappies out of the plastic and aired them on the shelf.

  • Soft, absorbent and good value.

The nappies were perhaps a bit larger than Huggies, and didn't fit my small twins until they were over 4kg, however the inside is soft, and they seem to be absorbant. I don't know how they go overnight yet, but they do fine for the 5 hour sleeps my twins are currently doing. The wipes are soft, and seem to clean the messes well.

  • Never had any leakage

I used aldi Mamia nappies quite often, and never had a hint of any problems, they were great! I really liked the wipes too, however I did not like the large packets of 240 wipes, there was something different about them. But the smaller packets are great. All in all, I would not hesitate to ever purchase aldi nappies or wipes for my kids.

  • Best nappy on the market

Aldi Mamia nappies are some of the cheapest nappies on the market and are some of the best I have used. They have amazing absorbency and are so reliable for quality each time. I have used Huggies and I have found that they can be prone to leak in instances where the Mamia nappies have held up, and I have also had instances where the tabs were stuck together on some nappies when opening the pack and have torn when trying to separate - I have never had this happen with Mamia.

As to the wipes - I prefer the bulk packets of wipes which are no different in quality to expensive brands. They are always lovely and wet and great to use - the ones in the smaller packets are thinner and not as nice and can sometimes stick together a little which can be annoying, but I would still use them as for the price you can't go too wrong.

Mother’s instinct is a funny thing. At home, we trust it without question. But put us in a hospital setting with an unwell child, surrounded by doctors, nurses and monitors, and suddenly we start doubting ourselves.

What if I’m overreacting?
What if I’ve got it wrong?

So we stay quiet, even when we know something just isn’t right with our child. I’ve been there myself – when my usually ‘tough’ son was doubled over with stomach pain. I was told in the emergency department that it probably wasn’t his appendix. But I knew he wouldn’t have begged me to take him to hospital unless it was serious. Because I know him better than anyone. Turns out, it was appendicitis.

It’s a really common place for parents to land. You’re grateful for the care your child is getting, but at the same time, you feel this huge responsibility to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.

Here’s the thing though: that instinct you’re feeling? It matters more than you might think.

Why your gut feeling matters more than you realise

According to Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital, Leticia Jackson, parents bring something to the hospital that no test or machine ever could.

“Parents often say they ‘just know’ when something isn’t quite right with their child, and in a hospital, that gut feeling is incredibly valuable,” she explains.

Leticia Jackson, Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital

While medical teams rely on observations, tests and equipment, parents know the little details. The way your child usually smiles. How they react when they’re tired. What’s normal for them.

So when something feels “off”, even if everything looks okay on paper, it can actually be an early warning sign.

“When parents trust those instincts and speak up, this creates a powerful partnership that can sometimes catch a problem before it becomes an emergency,” Leticia says.

Worried about speaking up? You’re not alone

A lot of parents hesitate about advocating for their child.

You don’t want to come across as difficult. You don’t want to question the people caring for your child. And sometimes, you just don’t feel confident enough to push the issue.

Leticia gets it.

“It is completely understandable for parents to feel hesitant,” she says. “No one wants to be seen as difficult or to second-guess the hardworking people caring for their child.”

But here’s a helpful way to look at it: you’re not challenging the medical team, you’re helping them.

Parents are the constant. Staff change shifts, care for multiple patients, and rely on snapshots of information. You’re there the whole time, noticing the subtle changes.

“Our medical team doesn’t view a concerned parent as overreactive, but as a partner,” Leticia explains. “Your voice matters.”

Remember, we know our children better than anyone.

What to do if you’re worried: the Raise It process

If you’re in a NSW public hospital or health service and you’re worried about you or your child’s condition getting worse, there is a clear process you can follow called Raise It.

Raise It is designed to help patients, carers and family members get help fast if they’re worried about a change in their loved one’s condition.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Talk: Start by speaking to a nurse, midwife, doctor or health worker about your concerns.
  2. Ask: Still worried? Ask to speak to the nurse or midwife in charge and request a Clinical Review.
  3. Call: If you’re still concerned, you can escalate further using the Raise It process to get urgent attention from a senior health worker.

You don’t need medical knowledge. You don’t need to be certain. If you feel something isn’t right, or your child is getting worse, Raise It. You just need to speak up.

What should you actually look out for?

Sometimes it’s not one big, obvious sign. It can be small, subtle changes that just don’t sit right.

Things like:

  • Changes in breathing (fast, laboured or noisy)
  • Skin looking pale, mottled, or developing unusual rashes
  • Your child being unusually drowsy, floppy, or hard to wake
  • Confusion or behaviour that’s out of character
  • Pain that isn’t improving with treatment
  • Or simply that feeling that your child is getting worse

And sometimes, it’s just that gut feeling you can’t explain.

That’s enough.

“You are helping us, not bothering us”

If there’s one message Leticia wants parents to take away, it’s that you aren’t bothering the medical team, you’re helping them.

“In my years as a Nurse Unit Manager, I can say with absolute certainty that many critical changes in a child’s condition have been identified first by a parent. While our clinical staff are highly skilled at performing regular observations and interpreting data, parents are the only constant presence who truly know their child’s baseline behaviour, personality, and what is normal for them.

“I have seen numerous instances where a parent’s insistence that their child is “just not themselves” – despite vital signs appearing relatively stable – has prompted a deeper clinical review that uncovered everything from early signs of sepsis to a life-threatening respiratory crisis.”

The Raise It process exists because healthcare teams know how important parents are in keeping children safe.

“Speaking up doesn’t mean you don’t trust the team,” she says. “It means you’re partnering with us to make sure nothing gets missed.”

And if you’re still worried about being judged?

“Whether your concern turns out to be something or nothing, your instinct to raise it is always valid.”

  • I have learned many times to always listen to your gut and speak up when you don’t think something is right. This article was a great read, our kids are our world and if we don’t feel they are getting the right help, and we feel it, we need to speak up.

  • You should never second guess yourself when it comes to yours or your childs health- or anyones for that matter. Go with your thoughts. It is natural to want to protect a loved one especially when it comes to health situations, and the feeling you get when you think you didnt do enough to advocate or fight for them…it is not a kind or nice way to feel. Many people have ended up being heartbroken and picking up pieces for years because of feeling they didnt do enough.

  • A very good and informative article. I have read so many stories about mums just knowing when things are not right and demanding second and third opinions until they got the right answer. Sometimes mums just know. It is our job as care takers of our families. Listen to your gut!

  • Years ago, I spoke up for my 14-year-old daughter, but my concerns weren’t fully listened to. I’ve always wished I had pushed harder. She was sent home without much testing, and two days later, she passed away.
So, if you ever have concerns—no matter how minor—please speak up and keep advocating. Trust your instincts; they are there for a reason.

  • This is so important for parents to know how to raise it further if they don’t think their child is receiving the medical support they need! I know this article refers to the NSW system but other systems have similar procedures just with different names. I know in QLD it’s called Ryan’s Rule.

  • It’s so important to follow your gut instincts and express your concerns indeed. I have never hesitated to advocate for my children in various situations and I don’t care what other people think about it. Not all doctors and medical staff appreciate it when you question them, I’ve experienced that it may result in angry indignant responses.

  • How true this is! While nurses and doctors are the medical professionals doing their job on the daily, we know our children better than anyone and what is ‘normal’ for them. I would always speak up if I had noticed any changes in my child’s health and encourage other parents to do so too. No question is silly!

  • This really is such an important issue and a good topic to discuss with people, I am often surprised that people are worried about being judged. This is not something I care about; the priority is for the care and health of everyone is my family. Parents know their children and need to work with health professionals for the best outcomes for their children.

  • This is such an important issue to raise, and no one should ever feel ashamed, nervous or that they are being OTT for advocating for their kids, themselves or loves ones in hospital. In QLD we have Ryan’s Rule. A three step process where your concern will be escalated if they believe the patients condition isn’t improving or is worsening.

  • I have never been afraid to advocate for my children and partner and extended family and also friends. It is so important to listen and to trust intuition. When people have not listened, I have persevered and kept on with insisting on care and making sure they truly listened and took action.
