    My son absolutely loves pesto pasta and because I couldn’t make pesto at home, I just went to buy some and phew, there wasn’t any on the shelves. And omg thankfully woolies was nearby I just grabbed a woolies salad pesto pasta kit and my 5 year old was so very happy. Winner winner! It is adequate for a kid.

  • Quick and easy

    I was looking at something quick and easy. As I had enough of eating the kids left overs. I remember seeing this on mouth of mums and thought I would give it a go. Wow was I surprised it was so yummy. I have even gotten my hubby onto them from he’s lunch for work. It’s going to be a must buy in our house. It’s fresh it’s crisp just right

  • Punchy pesto, bold basil-y goodness

    I’m not sure about you, but there are few things more satisfying than a delicious pre-prepared salad that you can throw together in a matter of seconds (because the time spent having to chop up veggies, wash lettuce, cook pasta is vastly overrated).

    Woolworths’ Basil Pesto Pasta Salad kit is the ideal lunch solution (just chuck in some shredded roast chicken for extra protein) or the ideal side accompaniment to a summer barbecue.

    It was a hit with hubby and Miss Two (who, let’s be honest, is a typical toddler in terms of her food fickleness).

    And in addition to its own deliciousness, the Basil Pesto Pasta Salad paired perfectly with a chilled glass of rose (what more do you need?!).

    I’m looking forward to trying the entire Woolworths Salad Kits range – they are definitely my go to for entertaining this summer!

    Was large enough for both of us to have for lunch with bbq..great for travelling also , no waste and no need for assorted ingredients in fridge.Loved the flavour , didnt think I would like it at first.
    Will be buying again , so handy when busy with family or just when travelling out for the day etc…

  • My new favourite salad!

    I loved this salad so much, I have purchased it four more times since reviewing it. Why do I love it? Fresh, tasty, convenient! I love how the cherry tomatoes, parsley and Parmesan cheese is packaged separately to the pesto salad. I have fussy family members and this way I can control what or how much to cater for preferences. The addition of pine nuts would be the only thing I would add, otherwise it is perfect. At 500 grams it’s a great size too.

    So we had our basil pesto salad again this evening. The taste was good and the ingredients were fresh. But this time I did feel that the penne was a bit undercooked so I just cooked it and let it cool and then mixed the other ingredients. I do like the basil pesto they make and it tastes great.     Me and my family totally love the woolies basil pesto salad kit. It tastes great and super fresh. I really like how they separately pack everything so it doesn’t get all mushy. The quantity and quality, both are great. It’s a winner and one of my fav woolies salad. You can always add it as a side to any meal and it will be a perfect meal for a lil kid. Totally recommend trying it out. Love it

    I would definitely feed this to my family at least once a week in summer definitely a summer meal who doesn’t love pesto my children absolutely enjoyed every bit of this we had it with some grilled chicken lemon wedges and wedge chips it was absolutely divine if I’d change anything probably the sizing to be a bit bigger for a family of big eaters but as a small family it’s perfect

    This side salad is super easy for an accompaniment to any meal, the flavours are nice and it is always fresh! It isn’t the cheapest side but definitely worth it for something different!

  • Very impressive

    I must admit, Woolworths brand of products don’t usually impress me, I find them to be cheap, nasty and never made in australia. Hence I avoid buying them. A friend bought this round to a bbq we were having. It is delicious! Everything you need is included in the container, all in separate packets so they stay fresh. If I have to criticise one thing, it would be the over use of plastic. Other then that, we enjoyed every mouthful

  • Needs improvement

    I really liked how the kit came with the ingredients all separate so it didn’t mix in with the pesto pasta and spoil the salad components. I thought it was tasty but the pesto itself with the cheese was a bit too strong. It needed more salad/tomato to really balance out the acidity. I’d buy this again for the convenience but would add more salad in myself

    I reviewed one of the other salads as part of the review team and was impressed by it. We had unexpected guests arrive from the fire zone so I bought the Basil pesto salad mix. Everybody raved about it as contents could be chosen according to allergies. I bulked it out by adding Gluten free pasta with home made pesto and served each item individually as a side to Chicken breast fillets.

  • Basil Pesto Pasta

    It was easy to prepare & delicious but my 2 daughters aged 9 &13 found the pesto quite strong- flavoured & Miss 9 says she doesn’t want to eat it again, but us other 3 would. It was a quick & convenient addition to our lamb chops that evening.????

    I really like anything which can be made easily, especially at dinner time when you are bound to be short of time, really easy to put together slightly oily then I would have liked and a little bit of spice would have been lovely otherwise great combination to go with meat or vegetables .   • Absolute delight

    I was a touch skeptical when I bought the creamy chicken pasta salad that it would taste as good as it sounded but I was proven wrong.
    The kit was great, with the caramelised onion chutney and chicken separate from the rocket which is on top of the pasta. The initial downside for me was that the onion chutney was not contained well enough and I spilt some.
    The serving size is great. Unfortunately for them, the rest of my household were not keen to try so I had the whole lot over multiple servings. It would be fantastic as a side dish but I also found it great on its own.
    I feel that the bacon and corn did not necessarily add to the dish. I did add some Parmesan cheese which paired nicely with the other ingredients and which I would prefer over the bacon and corn.
    Overall a great combination and wonderful spin on a salad.

    As a quick fast meal to grab it was ok. I although did find it oily and the pasta could have been softer and more cooked. Good to be able to add chicken for a balanced meal when you have no time. Well packaged and everything fresh still. Kids loved it. I however added a few extra flavours for my liking. Would probably try the other packs next time.

  • My favourite so far

    Basil? Good. Pasta? Good. Salad? So good. This was the second of the Woolworths fresh pasta range I’ve tried and yum – love this one. It tastes fresh, the textures are fresh and balanced and the basil flavour and dressing is the right amount for me. This one will be used as a meal or shared with my family as a side. They love basil pesto salad as much as I do! I may jist add some toasted pine nuts!

  • These are so cute! Although, I am not overly sure where I would be able to buy slider buns. Ones I have seen at the supermarket all seem to be larger size. Anything with lamb though and I’m in! I love that it uses a nice yoghurt instead of tzatiki, which I hate!

  • This recipe looks delicious however I am not a huge fan of lamb. I wonder if I replaced it with another type of meat it would taste as good. It also has a lot of ingredients so wouldn’t be something I could just whip up, I would need to shop first.

  • Delish recipe! I made something with similar flavours tonight, Arayas in Lebanese bread. And I had my trusty Ansell gloves, allspice and lamb is lovely but not when the smell is stuck on your hands! I’ll have to give this a go, it’s definitely something I’d love and sounds like a perfect family meal
