TODDLER fighting for lifer after he was struck by a car when he escaped from his family’s home onto a busy road.
The two-year-old boy was struck down on Railway Ave, Laverton at 8.45pm.
The boy’s family, who realised the child was missing from a nearby home, were attempting to catch up with him when he ran out on to the road.
A Royal Children’s Hospital spokeswoman said the boy was in a serious but stable condition this morning.
The driver of the station wagon failed to stop and help the injured child, police say.
A 21-year-old man Laverton man was arrested at a home on Railway Avenue and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
The child remains in hospital in a critical condition.
