Indeed. A gun should be stored securely and not left around the property, loaded, where a kid can reach it.

It is illegal to not lock up a firearm when it’s not being used. The ammunition is not supposed to be stored together with the firearms either.

How on earth can something like this happen in Australia?!?! Not only the gun being left within reach of a 3 yo, but also the 3 yo being left unattended for long enough to be able to find it and shoot herself!
