If you had to pick what the most popular showbag might be for girls this year at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, you might be inclined to say the Barbie showbag or Hello Kitty.

However, the top showbag prediction for girls this year is in fact the Slime Super bag.

The gooey creation was named as one of this year’s hottest items by show officials in their annual showbag list. Quite simply slime is hot.

The slime craze began several years ago and now has more than 3 million posts tagged #slime on Instagram.

“There are endless YouTube tutorials teaching people how to make their own goo and lots of different variations now. There’s just something globally appealing about slime,” said Samantha Atkinson from Bensons, which produce the Slime Super bag. “Kids love the sensation of how it feels.”

One of the biggest developments in slime has been the creation of girl-specific slime. Slime has evolved from its mucous-y green “gross-out” factor to “pretty slime”.

“Girls have really responded to creating their own slime with cute colours and additions like glitter and crystals,” said Ms Atkinson. “So, we’re expecting the girl-themed slime show bag to fly off the stands.

Here are the most popular showbag predictions for 2021 at the show, on from 1 – 12 April at Sydney Olympic Park.
