An alleged violent domestic attack has seen a baby being admitted to hospital and witnesses shocked at what they saw.

Police were called to the couple’s Western Sydney apartment in Parramatta, following reports of a couple fighting yesterday afternoon.  According to neighbours, the husband and wife were yelling and throwing bottles from their level seven apartment.

On arrival, police found a baby girl with bruising to her head and a man with injuries.

Another neighbour saw the couple arguing on the street, with one of them threatening to throw the baby onto the road.

Video footage taken by the neighbour, who did not want to be named, shows the man and woman arguing on the street.  Various witnesses intervene in the situation trying to help the couple.  A woman driving a truck is seen taking the baby away.

“The lady stopped the truck and tried to help them and calm them down,” he told reporters at the scene.

Police told Seven news, that a woman had been arrested at the scene and a man in his 30s was suffering bruising to his head and cuts to his body.

The unit’s building manager said police and paramedics had been called several times in the past year because of the couple’s fights.

“(I was) finding out what really was going on, trying to be the peacekeeper between the two,” building manager Steffan Khatib said. “Today unfortunately it has escalated, it has become (this) catastrophe.”  They’ve had ongoing domestic violence issues … for approximately a year.”

The young girl was taken to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and is understood to be in a stable condition.

The woman is being questioned by police.

  • PROTECTION FOR CHILD IN VIOENT SITUATIONS OR LIVING ARRANGEMENTS SHOULD TAKE TOP PRIORITY, THIS MAY INVOLVECHLDREN BEING TAKEN TOSAFER CUSTODY, i HAVE BEEN A YOUTHWORKER WITH STREET KIDS AND THEY THOUGHT HEARD FROM THEM AS TEENAGERS IT WAS THERE FAULT! • How anyone can threaten to hurt/hurt their baby is beyond me! I hope the poor little girl is taken off them and that she’s ok!

  • I hope the little girl is placed in a safe environment as it certainly doesn’t sound like she is safe with the parents – exposing her to such behaviour is bad enough let alone threatening to throw her on the road / allowing her to be hurt during the incident

  • Poor bubba, I hope all turns out well in her life

  • How terrible. Good on those people for intervening. So many wouldn’t. I hope the baby is not put back in their Care
