A teenage boy has been charged with sexually assaulting a young girl at a shopping centre on the Coffs Coast yesterday.
Police were called to a shopping centre at Moonee Beach, following reports a seven-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by an unknown male in the toilets.
Officers attended and arrested a 14-year-old boy, who had been detained in the car park by a member of the public.
Detectives from State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad conducted inquiries at the scene before taking the boy to Coffs Harbour Police Station.
He was charged with sexual intercourse with child under 10 years and two counts of indecent assault of a child under 16 years.
He has been refused bail to reappear at a children’s court tomorrow.
It is time we take notice and STOP putting our kids in danger. We need to go in pairs or hold on until you return home.
