The people you won’t see at the impending royal wedding.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided they will not invite US President Donald Trump, and other world leaders to their wedding, but instead have chosen guests they know.

It is understood former US leader Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are also missing from the guest list but the prince and his fiancee are said to be looking forward to seeing them soon, possibly during an official overseas trip once they are married.

It also seems that British Prime Minister Theresa May hasn’t made the cut.

Harry and his bride-to-be have picked 600 guests they have a direct relationship with to watch them exchange their wedding vows on May 19 at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel.

“It has been decided that an official list of political leaders – both UK and international – is not required for Prince Harry and Ms Markle’s wedding,” a Kensington Palace spokesman said.

“Her Majesty’s Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by the Royal Household.”

The couple have also asked that anyone who might wish to mark the occasion considers making a donation to charity, rather than sending a wedding gift.

Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have personally selected seven organisations they would like to support, reflecting their shared values.

  • I had a small wedding of 50 guests in total. My Mother wanted to invite an Aunty of mine and her partner. I very much disliked this woman and didnt want her at my wedding. My Mum pulled the “Your father and I are paying for this wedding” line. I said “I have never liked her and its your choice but if shes going to be there then I wont be”…..Thankfully….her exhusband….my mothers Brother called Mum and asked if she was being invited and said that if she was then he and his new wife would not be attending. That solved the problem and she was removed from the guest list. Why would I want someone at my wedding who told me when i was a child that I was ugly and funny looking and she slapped me and when i asked what that was for she said “You know”….I didnt and still dont. No way i wanted her there. I think the couple shoudl decide and no one else.

  • It is up to them who they wish to invite.

  • It’s their wedding so I agree they should only invite people they know to share their special day. Wishing them both the best

  • There is no way that they will become king and queen of England, so they should have the guests they want and dumb down some of the protocol.

  • I love the idea of directing donations to charity.

  • I agree with you. Why invite people you don’t know and would most like never see again. Donations to worthwhile charities is a great idea.

  • I love to catch up on the news and views of Harry and Meghan. They are changing Royal history with their own progressive way of doing things differently. As not including polititions and world leaders, but sharing their wedding to be with people they know and care about. I wish them both the very best and feel they will make a difference in the world as they are very much in public eye and help raise awareness by their involvement with various healing and helping organisation. Good advocates for worthwhile issues. Lovely as I as when young Ha

  • Their wedding, their invite list. I love that they’ve seemingly broken with protocol and not invited country leaders. Good on them. The focus will now be on the beautiful couple.

  • Sounds like a sensible plan to me. I don’t think a wedding should be a diplomatic event.

    • Not when you are now far down for being in line to reign on the royal throne.

  • There are only so many people that can be invited to any wedding. I’m pleased that they’ve opted for people they know best.
