Hello!

If you want to rub shoulders with Meghan and Kate, there’s a job going at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen is hiring, so if you’re a total royal obsessive, this could be the perfect job for you. Buckingham Palace needs a housekeeping assistant, and you don’t even need any previous experience to apply! Best of all you’ll get to rub shoulders with the world’s most famous family each and every day (no we’re not talking about the Kardashians…)

The Ideal Employee

You won’t need to be a cleaning extraordinaire to secure the position. The job description states that the applicant does not need previous hospitality experience, as they will be ‘proactive’ and ‘tackle new challenges’ The Daily Mail reports. Requirements for the job also include an eye for detail, being well organised and being able to manage your time well. We think most mums could tick those criteria off the list!

Not only will you be responsible for daily housekeeping, but you’ll also be involved in royal functions and events, and travel between a number of royal residences apart from the palace including Windsor. The very place where Meghan and Harry got hitched!

Get In Quick

The job almost sounds too good to be true, with 33 days holiday a year and the option to live-in (yep, you’d be living in the same place as the Queen herself…well almost!). While the salary has not been posted with the advertisement, if previous jobs are anything to go by, employees can expect upwards of £20,000 ($36,000) a year.

Sound like something you’d be interested in? You better get in quick – applications close on New Year’s Day!

  • If you live in, pay no rent, meals are provide and working hours are negotiable it may be a great job for a devoted employee.

  • I think I’ll pass on this one

  • I’d give it a go, but them I am bossy so I would probably tell the Queen how to do her job hahah

  • Not for me.

  • No thank you as I think this job is for someone dedicated to the work and no real social life. Yes there is some excitement there, not enough to travel overseas to work.

  • I would love to just volunteer there for a week just to see the place

  • It is of no interest at all – the royals are just people and doing any job just to be near them seems ludicrous to me.

  • No thanks. Too much pressure in a job like that.

  • My 7 year old daughter always says she wants to be a servant for the Queen when she grows up. Maybe this job will be available for her again when she grows up.

  • I think Iam going to be underpaid it doesn’t sound like a fantastic job to me

  • Sounds like a really low paying job for what you would be expected to do

    Reply

  • I’ve heard it’s actually very long hours.

    Reply

  • I don’t think I would want that type of responsibility or pressure! I will leave that job open to someone else!

  • Imagine the media hounding the staff trying to get inside information
Do the staff live on-site in different buildings? Do they get any free food (leftovers etc)?

    Reply

  • If you can live in and the food is provided, the salary is not bad. But then aimed maybe to someone without a family.

  • Not a great rate of payment though?

    • Somewhat disappointing wage for the work expected.
