Bluey fans have been left fuming after missing out on limited edition Hammerbarn merchandise being sold at Bunnings – only to see it turn up on eBay for hundreds of dollars.

Parents and kids were whipped into a frenzy over the past few days, with the news that seven Bunnings stores across Australia and New Zealand have been transformed into Hammerbarns – for real life!

Fans of the global phenomenon that is Bluey would be well aware of the episode titled ‘Hammerbarn’, and the inspiration for the store in the episode come from Bunnings in Keperra, Queensland. In the episode the Heeler family visit the hardware store to get a pizza oven, but of course end up with a trolley full of other things. Just like every family’s usual trip to Bunnings!

The highly-anticipated collab included a range of exclusive Bluey merchandise available at Bunnings, including the ‘husband gnomes’ Hecuba, Jeremy and Tony. The collection also includes dog toys, craft kids, a bucket hat, tote bag and bag tag.

As expected the range has been hugely popular, with many stores selling out over the weekend. And now the merchandise is turning up on eBay, with a huge price markup. In particular the gnomes have become highly sought-after.

And it’s left fans of the show furious, with many taking to social media to vent their frustration.

“As an Aussie who wanted ONE for my child, I’m so pi**ed off. I knew this would happen. My local Bunnings sold out within hours, most likely people doing this,” wrote one angry parent on the Adult Blue Fans Club Facebook page, which has more than 330,000 members.

“It’s so unAustralian people doing this,” wrote another.

“I couldn’t even get a single one, I cried for hours and there’s ads on eBay from $80-$600.”

Social media has also been flooded with international fans of the show desperate for Australians to ship the gnomes, but many Aussie fans say they’re too fragile to send overseas.

You can still join in the Bluey fun at your local Bunnings, with Bluey fans in every state getting the chance to experience a real Hammerbarn, and take part in free Bluey-themed workshops every weekend in February. You’ll just need to book online.

  • I think it’s honestly ridiculous that they are doing this , they mostly aren’t even fans of bluey which is quite sad ????

  • Once again, people trying to make extra money by buying items cheap then trying to sell them at an exorbitant price. I’m so glad I didn’t feel the need to get one. With it already being hard to survive I’m disgusted by these s***heads being so selfish.

  • Kind of makes me wish I was unscrupulous enough to do this.

  • So ridiculous! People can be so gross trying to make some money.

  • There are always opportunist. They should have a limit on them

    Reply

  • In my day it was My Little Pony rather than Bluey, but I never bought things if they were too expensive.

  • It happens all the time and social media outlets make it worse by bringing it to the attention of some crazy people.

  • All these ‘give-aways’ end up hurting someone in the long run. I won’t even attempt to collect any of them now.

    Reply

  • Surely Bunnings would have known how popular these items would be and ordered more stock? It seems such a shame for genuine fans.

  • The people that are bidding on these and buying them are just as bad as the resellers, dont buy them, make them waste their time and money, buyers dont be dumb!

  • Always bound to happen with things that are limited edition or stock. Its a shame.

    Reply

  • Very sad for little fans, but I’m not all that surprised.

    • Yes, little fans are the dupe of adult behaviour

    Reply

  • They need to make more of them so resellers can’t make money off them.
Its something that will always happen with limited time only items. Especially with such a following in the US with no access to Hammerbarn

    Reply

  • That is really underhanded of the resellers. No wonder Hammerbarn has a limit on items. Doesn’t stop anyone doing multiple transactions though.

    Reply

  • I had no idea these were coming out at Bunnings. They are pretty cute.
