Claims Hatchimals are mumbling swear words in their sleep.

Parents have been horrified to discover these cute little toys have a dark side.

Parents are claiming profanities emit from the cute and cuddly creatures while apparently deep in slumber.

Specifically, some parents claim to have heard their Hatchimals mutter the words “f*** me” as they sleep.

To prove they are not hallucinating, some parents have uploaded videos of the electronic creatures to YouTube.

Responding to the reports, the Canadian-based company that produces Hatchimals, Spin Master, said that the toys were incapable of swearing.

“Hatchimals speak their own language made up of random sounds,” a spokesperson said.

“We can assure you that the Hatchimal is not saying anything inappropriate. The one in the video appears to be sleeping.”

Did your child get one of these toys for Christmas? Have you experienced any issues?

  • Wow, these were one of the top toys for Christmas last year. Not on my kid’s list, but I’ve certainly read and learnt a lot about Hatchimals since.

  • Far out !!!!! I think some people just look for things to creat an article, not necessarily giving straight definite facts and this section is deteriorating in some cases lately. A few sensational headings which have been misleading too.
Looks like a lot of people disagree. I am sure some sites which are promoting these as prizes will check them out for themsevles

  • Can’t say I heard any clear swearing. I won’t be buying anyway anytime soon, whether they swear or not

  • It looks so cute.

  • I couldn’t hear any swearing in the video. My family are too old for this toy anyway so I don’t have to worry.

  • I couldn’t hear it. We searched everywhere for these critters this Christmas but to now avail. These kids were lucky to get one.

  • That’s hilarious! Seriously! People will hear rude words in anything! These people have an active imagination! Lol! I listened pretty carefully and didn’t sound like swearing to me it sounded more like a sleeping monkey or something. Maybe these parents need to stop looking for unimportant things to get upset about and start looking at the real dangers in their kids lives.

  • Video would not play – have not seen these toys.

    • Third attempt at trying to play this video and it will not work.

  • We don’t have one of these toys but I don’t think it sounds very much like swearing … considering the hype and how much they went for I can understand why people are upset some didn’t open.

  • We don’t have these toys, so have no idea.

  • Swearing – sure, if you can interpret those random sounds that way. They’re certainly not intended to even be words, I can tell you that much. More like a phoo-fwee, to be honest. A sort of digitalk snoring or the “mememememe” you’d hear in old WB cartoons. Seriously, their life is so devoid of meaning they have to kick up a scandal out of nothing? Plenty of real things to get upset about without inventing them – go look at political perks as a small drop in the ocean.

  • Its amazing how your brain interprets sounds and images to make sense of the unknown. I haven’t come across these toys yet.

  • Can’t hear anything bad in the video.
