Three bodies have been recovered from a swollen river in NSW a day after a mother and her two children were lost to the waters in a car accident.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said the car was found at 3.25pm on Monday, but would not confirm if anyone was inside.
A little girl swam from the car to safety after it entered Tweed River at Tumbulgum about 1.40pm Monday, but her mother, brother and sister could not escape.
Chloe Kabealo is now recovering with relatives.
Emergency services recovered the bodies from the river at about midday on Tuesday after finding the submerged vehicle on Monday afternoon.
The victims have been identified as 43 year old, Stephanie King, from Bilambil, her son Jacob Kabealo, 7, and her daughter Ella-Jane Kabealo, 11.
Police ambulance and fire crews searched the area on Monday and Tuesday with divers called up from Sydney to assist.
Our deepest condolences to the family and all involved.
