When the kids go to the hairdresser they are often offered iPads or phones to get them to sit still. A US barber has a different idea, they are encouraging kids to read a book aloud while getting their haircut by offering a discount to readers.

Not only do the parents get a $2 discount on the haircut, the barbers give the kid that reads $2!

What a great initiative to get kids reading and great for the kids to practice reading aloud.

How do you get your kids to sit still at the hairdresser?

  • What a great idea. The barber must be a very caring man to encourage the children to read.

  • This is amazing. The barber deserves some kind of thank you as he is encouraging these kids to read and read in public. This is something that I myself struggled with so I think it’s wonderful.

  • Such a cool idea, his son would have loved this so much.

  • What a great idea. Dentists should consider something like this too, reading would be a bit hard, unless it was before the procedure. Needing over $1000 worth of dental work doing, a discount would be amazing
