Victorian Police were shocked to discover a baby’s bouncer being used as a car seat.

The bouncer was in the back seat of the car, with an unrestrained baby in it, and two passengers without seatbelts beside it.

In a statement Vic Police said, they handed out three infringement notices to a driver after finding an unrestrained baby and two rear passengers without seatbelts.

The officers were astounded when they worked out why the teenagers had no seatbelts on.

The belts were wrapped around a rocking chair, containing a 7-month-old baby, in an attempt to restrain the chair to the rear seat.

The three tickets, totalling $900, were issued for failing to have three unrestrained passengers in the vehicle.

  • I’m just glad they didn’t get into a accident with the baby in the rocker. Unbelievable.

  • I think people who do stuff like this should have their kids removed from their care while they take parenting classes to learn how to take parenting seriously.

  • Ridiculous! And all they got was $900 in fines? There’s the reason why offences like this are committed so often. People like this shouldn’t be procreating at all, but they should definitely have the threat of jail time or more severe fines or even impound the car.

  • Total lack of common sense… But at least they gave SOME thought to the baby’s safety.
