The boring, monotonous and exhausting things that mums often do with their children might actually be the little things that make their lives magical. Stop and take a look at your day through your child’s eye….

Mum of two and blogger, Esther Anderson of Story of This Life, has created a heartwarming video to remind everybody that mums, often forget how those boring, exhausting moments in the day, may actually be the best thing your child ever remembers!

Esther made the video A Normal Day in honour of mums for Mother’s Day.

It features grocery shopping, failed naps, messy diaper changes, and other things mums go through on a normal day.

However, the difference is she uses these examples to portray parents not as failures, but as devoted and loving magicians who, despite all odds, make their children’s time spectacular. The eye-opening effect was created by showing the same day through the mother’s and her child’s eyes. Sometimes, perception isn’t necessarily reality.

  • that was lovely and reminds you that kids really do see things different, of course. we should be a bit more positive as mums

  • Sometimes when mishaps happen, you may think “oh no”. Later you may laugh about them.
I don’t think I would have been sitting on the floor eating cake though.
This video really touched my heart.

  • What a lovely video – just shows the way the same thing is perceived by two people. So cute.

  • Parents can actually have fun parenting too. Its not all soul sucking boredom and mess.

  • I can imagine little kids see you as devoted and loving magicians who make their day /time / life spectacular, but once these kids become a bit older they might think a bit different about it.
