A NSW woman violently robbed of her handbag on the Gold Coast over the weekend, has lead to Police seeking the extradition of three Chilean men.

The 63-year-old woman was attacked in Carrara, Queensland on March 9.  Police say the woman sustained grazing, bruising and lacerations as she was dragged 15 to 20 metres while she struggled to keep hold of her bag.

Australian Border Force officers intercepted and arrested the three men at Sydney Airport on Sunday in relation to the robbery.

The men, aged 17, 22 and 40, are in the custody of Australian Federal Police, with the Queensland Police Service seeking their inter-state extradition.

  • The lady was very brave to hang onto her handbag. If victims resist they are often brutally assaulted. I hope she makes a full recovery. Physcologically it may be haeder.
