Kevin Payne of New York has discovered a unique and rather effective way to get his five-month-old son to sleep.

Kevin sends baby Carter off to sleep by describing in detail what his job involves. Kevin has a pretty boring job. He’s a Technology Resiliency Manager.

He cradles baby Carter in his arms, and begins to explain the details of infrastructure tests.

In the video Kevin can be seen speaking about tech resilience in banking and the various infrastructure tests he does, as Carter’s eyelids get heavier and heavier.

Kevin said his unique sleep method has been more effective than singing a soothing lullaby.

“Carter is not a good sleeper and I cannot carry a tune so rather than sing him to sleep I just talk about work until he drifts off,” Kevin said.

“I’d been talking for a good 15 minutes before mentioning my work and that really seemed to do the trick.”

“Being sleep-deprived I find myself trying to make the best of these situations.”

Worth a shot!

  • Haha, this is very funny. Who knew babies could get bored at such a young age?! It may be more the monotone of his voice if he finds his job boring.

  • Ha ha ha might work on adults too if he talks to them! Sounds boring! Lol

  • If its good for the baby then its alright by me. Think the topic he discusses would put me to sleep too.

  • I think the monotone of his voice brings his baby to sleep alright, doesn’t matter what he tells. Personally I never liked my children fall asleep on my arm though.

  • If his voice gets the right boring tone when he talks about work then I reckon he might find his job a bit boring too. Great that he’s figured out that it works though.
