Dear Daddy I know you will protect me from lions, tigers, guns, cars and even sushi. But dear daddy, I will be born a girl. PLEASE do everything you can so that won’t stay the greatest danger of all.

WARNING: This video contains coarse language and sexual content.

While some may find it confronting, the video created by aid agency CARE International, seems to hit home, with many branding it as “the most important video of 2015”.

‘Dear Daddy’ starts as a letter from an unborn baby girl to her father, asking him to help prevent the violence she will likely endure at the hands of men in her lifetime.

Shocking statistics from the World Health Organisation reveal that one in three women worldwide will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime.

The National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line – 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732 FREE) – is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for any Australian who has experienced, or is at risk of, family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault.

Show that you never tolerate violence against women. Share the movie and start your involvement at www.kjaerepappa.no #DearDaddy

  • A powerful video !! My daughter, year 5 and 11 years old, already receives -on the edge-sexual tinted- remarks from the boys in her class. Just as the girls need their fathers, the boys do as well !! they so need the good examples of their dads in words and actions.
