A young boy has suffered a “rare” cardiac arrest while at a dance class in Sydney’s south.

It is understood the eight-year-old collapsed during the class at the Sylvania Heights Community Centre yesterday afternoon.

Paramedics and the Careflight helicopter were called to the scene just before 6pm, reports 9 news.

Crews were forced to use a defibrillator to revive the boy, and he was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
