A five-year-old boy has allegedly been indecently assaulted while waiting at a bus stop in Sydney’s south west.
The incident is alleged to have occurred at a bus stop on Jacobs Street in Bankstown just before 2.30pm on Thursday.
Police said the young child was waiting at the bus stop with a woman when a middle aged man sitting at the stop motioned for the boy to join him.
Investigators have been told the boy walked over to the man and started speaking with him before the man allegedly placed him on his lap and indecently assaulted him.
“The woman called out to the five-year-old boy, which caused the man to walk away,” police said in a statement.
Police were called and searched the area, but the man could not be found.
He has been described to police as being approximately 45-50 years old, of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, with a stocky build, and medium length black hair and a black moustache.
He was last seen wearing a beige polo shirt with stripes, black pants and sandals.
Detectives are urging anyone with information to contact Bankstown Police Station on 02 9783 2199.
