Once the kids go back to school you can start receiving all of that gorgeous school artwork again.  What do you do with it though, stick it on the fridge or pop it in the cupboard?  How about displaying it so they can see it and admire their work?  This lovely canvas will give you a gorgeous piece for their walls and somewhere to keep all their artwork tidy as well.

1 large canvas which you can pick up at large craft stores and discount stores, fabric of your choice, ribbon, pegs, washi tape or colourful paper and double sided tape, a staple gun, staples, hanging

Iron your fabric then lay it out on a large surface such as the dining table (protect the surface with a cloth).  Place your canvas on the fabric and position so you have an attractive pattern for the front of the canvas.  Fold you fabric up over the sides to the back of the canvas and measure how much overhang you’ll need, cut it large enough to fit the canvas including folding it over for stapling.

Staple along the longest end first, keeping your fabric firm and flat.  Repeat for opposite side, again keeping firm and straight

At the ends, make a fold like this…

..then take the fabric and fold over and staple as shown, continue to stable that end and repeat for the final end of the canvas, keeping the fabric tight.

Cover your pegs by applying the washi tape or cutting the paper to fit and adhering with double sided tape.

Staple your ribbon on to the frame.  Staple the hanging string to the back of the frame, being careful of the height so you don’t see your hooks.

Place your pegs on the ribbon and hang using whatever hanging mechanism you choose.  I use 3M removable hooks as I can take them off later without leaving a mark.  Once you’ve hung it on the wall you kids are free to add and take away as they please.
