Hello!

CHOICE tested 46 newborn, infant and crawler nappies and found that some supermarket generics are just as good as the big name brands that can cost up to three times more.

When it comes to newborn nappies, Aldi’s Mamia and Coles’ Comfy Bots are among the top performers and surprisingly they only cost 17c per nappy.

It pays to shop around and try out different brands that’s for sure. I must admit I was always a Huggies mum. I tried a couple of cheaper options but never had great experiences (leakage issues etc) so I always went back to Huggies.

But here we are six years after I last used a nappy and there are SO MANY other great brands. It is awesome to see that cost doesn’t always have an impact on quality.

Pampers were top of the list with a score of 91%. Followed by Nannys Flexicare with a score of 89%. Find the full results on CHOICE here.

What you the MoM’s have said…

Our mums have shared their own thoughts on their fave nappy brands.

Tan shared, “We use the Thank you brand – Day and night for our toddler boy! Work just as well as my other favourite brand Huggies and extra bonus, no cutesy Disney characters on them but funky designs.”

Lisa said, “For my first Bub Huggies were the go, but that was 5 years ago. 2 years ago for my second Bub following a change in Huggies I have used Babylove, and found then to be awesome. Comfy bots I found leaked a bit, but I also have a very active boy.”

Kirsten said, “Aldi nappies and pull ups. After spending a fortune on huggies for the first few months with many leaks I changed to aldi nappies and wish I found them sooner, so much cheaper and better then huggies.”

Lynette said, “I used to only use huggies but i feel the quality has slipped… i just use woolies home brand now….”

Sharyn and Jodi both said, “Aldi brand all the way!”

Meagan said “I’m surprised the Woolworths nappies aren’t there. I love them.”

Angela said, “I used Aldi nappies for both my girls. I found them to be good. They are affordable especially when you have 2 in nappies.”

  • Huggies Nappies are expensive. I feel you “pay for the name”.
Prior to Aldi coming here we used BabyLove then changed to Comfy Bots.
It depends how you put nappies on how much they are likely to leak as far as urine is concerned.

  • I love it when Choice do brands comparisons. It’s so encouraging to have the proof that it’s not always the most expensive that is the best choice
