Hello!

All bodies are different, we all recover in our own way and bodies don’t always go back the way they once were, but this fit new mum has shared an image that has the Internet talking yet again.

Former Miss Universe finalist and fitness model Chontel Duncan hit the headlines earlier this month after posting snaps showing her barely noticeable pregnancy reminding mums that “We all carry babies differently“.

She delivered her precious baby boy last week sharing – “Healthy happy baby boy, absolutely nothing medically wrong with bubba, he is extremely alert and very strong shocking the staff here with his arms and neck strength.”

Chontel has shared a “bump update” on her Instagram page with the caption… (image below)

“40 weeks… 5 days post delivery

Little D now known as Jeremiah ‘MIAH’ came 39weeks 2days (as you all would have noticed). My body is tender, it feels like someone did 12 rounds in the boxing ring using my core as the target. So much swelling is yet to go down & so much healing is yet to happen.

I haven’t seen my GP yet to see how my first week of healing has gone but when I do, it’ll be then that I will be able to see a goal ahead with my healing process.

The midwife & nurses follow up went well so fingers crossed I have a speedy recovery & continue on the straight road ahead.

It’s super crazy how different my body feels, I can’t believe my bump is gone & I no longer have my baby hiding inside of me. To a degree I miss it but reality of actually having Miah in my arms is so much better.

I wonder because I can’t get back into training for a longer period of time how my body will change through purely just recovery/rest and nutrition… I’m excited because it gives me more time with Miah lol I’m an obsessive new mummy!!! Miah has settled in like a champ, feeds really well & sleeps heaps.

I am so grateful to have had such a healthy happy baby.
Looking forward to learning more about parenthood and to see the changes in my body as time persists.”

She looks amazing!

Again we think it is timely to remind everyone exactly what Chontel expressed during her pregnancy

Each women carries different and this most certainly doesn’t mean one is doing something wrong or not healthy.I couldn’t care less how my body is affected.

I respect my body, I’m disciplined, I look after my health and it was MOST CERTAINLY not to be a silly size 0…”

The same can be said for how differently mums lose that baby bump. Be kind to yourself.

Embrace it!

  • I was really disappointed at some of the comment Chontel got on social media. I thought for the most part we were past this whole issue after Michelle Bridges, Ashy Bines and other high profile personalities had healthy babies and stuck it to everyone. I have friends who are trained through her business and all I’ve ever heard is how dedicated to fitness and decent she is.

I think a few people good take a page out of her book really.

  • Gosh, sometimes it baffles me how such little people can carry babies. It truly is amazing!!

  • Weight isn’t the only issue. There is also the fact that your stomach is stretched each baby you have. It isn’t just weight. Some are too quick to judge.

  • Yep, every woman’s body is different & every pregnancy is different too. After my second pregnancy, I’m struggling so much more than I did with my first pregnancy, even though I started off 20kg’s lighter than first time around. We are definitely way too hard on ourselves – what an amazing thing our body has just been through!
