Yesterday the story broke about three children who had been involved in a disturbing attack at their home in Broadmeadows, Melbourne and today we hear that the man who allegedly conducted this attack, who is also being questioned over the murder of his suspected wife, is a former terror suspect.
Bassad Raad (34 years old) was arrested yesterday morning in relation to the alleged beating of three children, who suffered non-threatening injuries. Back in 2008 he was acquitted from one of Australia’s biggest terror trials. Raad was acquitted of financing and being a part of terrror group, Benbrika. He is the cousin of two suspects jailed over the plot and has relatives who are believed to have fled to Syria
The Herald Sun is reporting that family and neighbors had not seen Raad’s wife, Zaynab, in months and that the children had been asking where their mother was. Zaynab and Bassad Raad married after he was acquitted of terror charges.
The Herald Sun is also reporting that “a deceased woman, who police had been unable to identify since her body was discovered in Dallas on June 17, is Raad’s wife.”
