Scientists have suggested that two glasses of wine before bed could actually help you lose weight.

The studies come from Washington State University and Harvard Medical School and explain that there is a polyphenol called “resveratrol” in red wine that lends us a hand in the weight loss department.

This resveratrol converts white fat into “obesity-fighting” beige fat, which is much easier for the body to break down, shares The Sun.

Studies have also suggested that resveratrol suppresses your appetite so you won’t fancy eating as much anyway.

  • I’m not an alcohol drinker, but my understanding is that red wine has the best health benefits. In small amounts it is supposedly good for your heart

  • Not a habit I would personally take on – will stick with walking and balanced food intake.


    • All good things in moderation is the key to being happy and healthy which includes a tipple!

  • Yes, I knew red wine has it’s health benefits. I always used to drink red wine while living in Europe, but switched to white since I moved to Oz. Maybe I should make an effort to try drinking red again.
    The article suggests red wine and yet the picture shows a lady with a glass of white wine !
