Jools Oliver has been criticised yet again, this time over her choice of baby carrier.

Hubby, Jamie, Oliver, shared a gorgeous snap of Jools and baby River to wish his wife a Happy Birthday. What followed was a stream of negative comments from followers criticising them over the baby carrier little River was being worn in.

Comments included -

– “Jamie, you inspire people so much when it comes to healthy food… Please do take a few minutes to read about how carriers of this type are bad for the baby, regardless of what the producers say! Carrying is a great thing, but it must be done responsibly – like eating.”

– “Happy birthday Jools, you look wonderful, and I agree not a good choice of carrier. I know you educate about food but let others educate you about ergo carriers.”

Another read “Please do your research or ask your physio. Narrow-based carriers are not only dangerous but also uncomfortable for baby! River doesn’t look particularly cosy in that pic. Should never front-face! Also hip dysphasia can be undiagnosed in 15 per cent of babies, so why take the chances?”

– Another added: “Happy birthday! But why use a non-ergonomic carrier for the baby? It’s bad for his spine.”

Daily Mail reports, The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) offers the following advice on baby slings: ‘Carrying a young baby facing out is not recommended, as it forces your baby’s back straight against your chest, and causes their legs to dangle in a harness like position.

‘This can mean the baby’s weight rests on his crotch rather than being spread from his bottom and thighs.’

Childcare expert Clare Byam-Cook doubted the criticism, telling MailOnline: ‘If it was known to be bad for baby’s hips then, quite simply, it wouldn’t be on sale.

‘The Oliver’s can afford to buy the best equipment and I’m sure they wouldn’t risk their baby’s health.’

It’s not the first time Jools has been mummy shamed. Just weeks after welcoming her fifth baby Jools was ridiculed from the trolls attacking her ‘post-baby body’.

I have to admit when I saw this image the other day I was waiting for the comments to start.

Jools is far from new to this parenting gig, I think she might have some clue about what she is doing.

  • There is so much shaming these days – rather sad. :(

  • People really need to stop being so judgemental.

  • it looks as though the carrier isn’t even done up properly. It is a SAFETY iSSUE. Part of caring for a baby is safety

  • People can be rather tiring !
Think it’s a lovely picture and it’s nice we can see both mums and Rivers face ;)

  • In my research for baby carriers I have found the risk of hip displaysia is something I’m not willing to risk. And from the sounds of it these comments were coming from a concerned/caring place rather than a bitchy place. If it was my friend and her baby I saw I would tell her. Not to shame her but because I Have information she might not and I care about her

  • Seriously, people need to get a life. I looked at this photo for what it was – a birthday message. I was not drawn to what her baby was in or any such thing. How rude, and how dare people comment in the way they have.

  • It’s her business what she does, none of us should judge while hiding behind a screen. I bet none of these people who judge her are perfect themselves.

  • I think that baby River looks quite content. There are so many children that really do need help for lots of reasons, this I doubt is one of them. Everyone’s an expert these days, shame we are not so good on being supportive.

  • I think that River is in the carry seat the wrong way round – BECAUSE THEY WANTED A PHOTO OF BABY & MUM LOOKING TOWARDS DAD. Come on people – lighten up. They know what they are doing after 5 kids – like someone else said here – haters gunna hate.

  • haters gonna hate!

  • While I do agree with some of what they said, it is none of our business on what she uses. We all learn from our mistakes

  • Some people a bit jealous of who she is married to is more my thinking. I love these keyboard warriors so quick to criticize, I wonder if they would like it if we did it to their family photos.

  • Oh for pity sake critics, get a life. Leave people to live their lives as they see fit, your opinion is simple that, an opinion and I doubt that many are particularly interested in it.

  • I empathize with Jools, it’s tough work being a Mum, and she and Jamie are doing their best. Other’s should quite frankly butt out. None of us is perfect after all, and all of us have done something that is deemed as “unsuitable for children” at some stage in our journey, that is if we’re honest and actually admit it.
Happy Birthday Jools, I hope you had a lovely day with your family. God bless.
