Mel Watts is well known for her honesty and raw insight to the world of motherhood, and now, with her latest body positive snap, she encourages us all to make a start on ourselves with some kind words.

Mel Watts is a mum of four, from New South Wales and popular blogger at ‘Modern Mumma’, previously she has shared posts on her journey, which hasn’t always been a walk in the park, though her positive attitude with complete understanding of how we all feel has us applauding, especially with her latest Instagram post:

Mama, You don’t always have to love the skin you’re in. Trust me. I not only feel heavy right now, I feel sluggish, tired and withdrawn (winter was good to me ????????????)

I didn’t want to got to the gym but I knew if I went today that I already got to mark a day off as going. If I just finished that class that was 60 minutes more than what I was going to get if I was just sit and scroll.

With such a body positive movement going around it can sometimes make us feel there is something wrong with us if we don’t like ourselves.

I started today because tomorrow I’ve already started. I know I’m going to hate the next couple of weeks as I withdraw myself off sugar (wahhhhh) and run at the back of the class but that’s okay – because I’ll feel better about it in another few weeks.

You’ll always be the new girl if you haven’t started yet, but one day you’ll be up there with the rest and just enjoying the time away from the kids.

Don’t freak out if you don’t love yourself; you don’t have to today or tomorrow.

But one day you’ll be thankful you started. I know what it’s like to like me – I want that back.
If you can’t go to a gym – totally understand put the head phones on and download a audiobook. The time will go fast!

Skip the kinder surprise from food shopping (????) and make yourself wait until after dinner. Stop the excuses and just get it done.

  • Everyone who has a baby or two or more has a tummy like Mel’s – good on her for showing us what it’s like. I tend to hide mine under my clothes but no matter what exercises I do, my tummy will never go back to being flat like it once was. Just have to accept it and not blame anyone else for it. But I must admit I adore all those babies who have grown up to be responsible adults.

  • I love seeing inspirational posts like this. It makes you feel less alone in the world knowing that someone else is going through the exact same thing and it sucks for them just as much as it sucks for you.

  • Good on her for being so honest and open when she will surely be hit with a bunch of negative comments and hurtful words. It takes someone very strong to do that
