I love our pasta maker and so do the family and the extended family. I have to say that it has made entertaining a breeze as everyone can socialise and chat while the pasta is being made for lunch and dinner. Entertaining is actually pretty cheap too and definitely cheaper than an Italian restaurant.

The Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker brings back the joy of cooking
I would hands down recommend the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker to others!!! So I really enjoy fresh pasta but with 3 little munchkins in toe now I don’t really have the time to make it.. the old fashion way. A few of my friends have “other” pasta making machines and I have asked them to show me how there’s work. Of course I had to have a taste test as well. HANDS DOWN the Philips machine is quicker, easier to operate and the taste of the pasta far out accomplishes the “others”. I have even convinced one of my friends to get rid of their machine and buy the Philips brand!
The Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker is quicker than expected to use.. oh yes it is! So I did a time test..
– 2 minutes to get out machine, all ingredients, plug in and place ingredients into the machine
– 15 minutes for all pasta to be made, cut and drying on a pasta rack
– 12 minutes to wash and set to air dry
– I min and 30 sec to pack up and put away (after drying but who stands there and watches it dry right… )
TOTAL – 30.5 minutes
Those of you who have ever made fresh pasta know that you would barely be done needing the dough let alone be cleaned up and packed away!
The Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker is suitable for lots of recipes.. Of course, I was even able to cater for family members with food allergies.. when I told them we were having fresh pasta they gave me the look of “Ok and what am I getting to eat”. The response from family was “Where did you buy it and exactly what is in it”. I was able to show them the recipe, and even prepared it right in front of them. What can I say it was a dinner the whole family was involved in!
The Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker brings back the joy of cooking at a whole new level!!! All the family is involved and for our 10 year wedding anniversary my darling husband even pulled out machine and made dinner with the kids all by themselves.
I love the fact the whole family is involved and we are improving our quality of eating by being able to hide lots of veggies from the kids and even making some fabulous pasta salads to have as a side dish.
I honestly swear by the Philips Pasta and Noodle maker, I was so sceptical that it was going to be hard, too time consuming and really just a pain to have in our kitchen. It has become one of the family bringing us all together at meal time, thank you from a very happy mummy and her family!

Well it has happened…. I managed to make a least 2 pasta dishes a week using my Phillips Pasta and Noodle maker.
It is so easy and so much fun for the kids to get involved. The kids take turns in measuring everything out and Master 5 has even mastered cracking eggs! Now if little Miss 2 and Master 1 could crack eggs without getting shells into it, I would be onto a real winner!
This miracle maker machine not only churns out pasta at lightening speed but is easy to clean up afterwards. Just as an added bonus it all packs away compactly and conveniently…
I am very happy to say that I finally after many years look forward to getting in the kitchen with new little friend the Phillips Pasta and Noodle maker!

We had a surprise visit at our house last night from another family – that meant 11 mouths to feed! While I would normally be uninspired, and horrified by this situation, I had a lightbulb moment, and decided to make fresh pasta for all of us. A quick sauce using passata, garlic and fresh basil from the garden, and we had a wonderful evening. Thanks Phillips and MoM for the opportunity to give this fantastic pasta maker a ‘whirl’!

MIGHTY MEATBALLS AND PASTA MADE IN THE PHILIPS PASTA AND NOODLE MAKER
I was needing a quick mid week recipe for my boys. Having the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker on hand the problem was solved. As I got onto making the tomato sauce and meatballs, my 2 sons aged 8 and 10 got onto making the pasta. The machine is so easy to use, they love it.
The beauty of this pasta is that all components can be frozen. Extra meat balls and tomato sauce and be frozen for another meal.
I did find the pasta a little firm to the bite, so I recommend cooking it a little longer.

Tonight I decided to use my Philips Pasta Maker to make a Béchamel Lasagne. I used the wide disc to make the sheets. From previous experience, after the pasta was made, I precooked the sheets for about 10 minutes in boiling water before putting the lasagna together and cooking it in the oven.
Pasta from the Philips machine I have found to be a little firm to eat. I have made cannelloni before and the family commented that the pasta was a bit thick and firm after cooking. Today I found that by pre boiling the sheets of pasta the lasagna turned out fantastic. I will definitely do this again in the future.

I was so surprised when I open this machine to find not only does it do penne style and spaghetti/noodles but it also does sheets of pasta. So I used an old favourite recipe of ravioli and replace the usual wonton sheets with this freshly made pasta. The extrusion process meant that I could cut the sheets to the exact size I wanted as they came out and I could start filled them straight away.
They were so fresh and tasty and we can’t wait to make more and try the sheets for lasagne.

That really exciting moment... when the pasta starts being extruded!!!
Tonight was a quick, basic pasta night. We made a basic durum spaghetti, which is such a quick and easy process. While the pasta was mixing in the chamber, I quickly made a basil pesto. Including cooking time, a completely homemade, packet-free meal was made in about 20 minutes. A winner with hubby, Miss 8, Mr 10, and being so quick and easy – Mummy!!

I have been making my own pasta for a while, using the old hand turn machine. It always took me a long time to finish, and this then made me lazy, despite home made pasta being so much better and tastier. I then invested in the Phillips Pasta & Noodle Maker, and oh boy, what a difference it has made to my life. I no longer have to do the dough the same, or use my hands to turn the wheel 5 or 6 times per sheet. It is amazing. My kids say it even makes “real spaghetti”, and now just thin linquine as in the hand held machines. Highly recommended!!

I love my Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker. My family loves it. Fresh pasta and noodles is easily and quickly made with this appliance. Put the flour, egg and water in the appliance and it shoots out the pasta. How easy is that. Being fresh, the pasta cooks much quicker than the dried pasta. The appliance is also very easy to clean. I leave it for a few hours and then it is a matter of picking off the dried pasta dough from the attachments. Very useful for us as we eat a lot of pasta and noodles.

I no longer buy pasta, as the Philips Pasta & Noodle Maker makes such a tastier, fresher pasta each time, we much prefer to make our own!
The setting up and cleaning can be a little bit involved but, once you know what you are doing, it gets easier and faster each time.

I only just received my machine as a birthday present so I have only used it once. We made some yummy fettuccine. I was surprised at how quickly the pasta was made. The machine was easy to operate, and whilst the cleaning was a bit more cumbersome than I expected as you pull out all the various parts it was very easy to clean. I also love the draw underneath to store all the parts.

It's very quick and easy yo use. Children can do it!
I love my Philips Pasta Maker, it’s a very easy to use machine and the kids love using it. I like the flexibility of it – using it to make noodles for Asian dishes too. The one thing I don’t like is that the texture of the pasta is not as good as when you use s traditional pasta machine. I think this is due to the short kneading time and single extrusion. I’ve tried s lot of different recipes but it doesn’t change the texture – it lacks that smooth, silken feel of the traditional way. It doesn’t really matter once the pasta is cooked, but it is certainly something to be aware of, especially given it is an expensive machine. I still think it was worth every (on sale) penny.

I was lucky enough to receive additional attachments for the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker. One of these attachments makes Angel Hair pasta/noodles. I decided to give it a go to serve with bolognaise instead of the usual spaghetti. It turned out really well and I actually enjoyed it as a change from spaghetti as it was a bit lighter. It seems to go a bit further too as it’s much thinner than the other varieties. It only takes about 4 minutes to cook too, so it’s a bit of a winner all round! A friend makes egg noodles – angel hair noodles cut in about 2cm lengths. She says they go really nicely in a chicken broth, so I’m going to try this next. I think you use egg only and no water. I’ll post the results.

Tonight I made parsley thick flat pasta. I was lucky enough to get some additional fittings for the Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker, and gave the thick flat noddle attachment a go. I recently saw some gourmet pasta being sold at a local farmers market, and one of the flavors was parsley. I thought “I could make that”! I simply added 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh parsley to the usual recipe, and it turned out brilliantly! It had a distinct parsley flavour and added a great freshness to the pasta. I just love that this machine allows you to be so creative!

How to choose the best lunch box for school
When you’re searching for a kids’ lunch box, take the time to work out what will best suit their needs. If you make the right choice and invest in a quality one, it will last many years.
Box, bento or bag? If your child doesn’t like different foods touching, a bento lunch box is a great choice. Also, think about whether they prefer cut-up or whole fruit; a bento is better suited to cut food, while bags and boxes suit whole fruit. Bags are fantastic if you like to pack separate containers, like smaller bento or snack containers.
Freshness is a must – An insulated bag or box will keep everything cool and fresh until snack and lunchtime. But you can also get boxes that come with cold and ice packs. Remember, kids’ lunches often sit at room temperature for up to 5 or 6 hours before they’re eaten, so insulation and coolness are important. Check out how to keep school lunches safe in the heat.
Easy-to-clean design – Check if the box is dishwasher-safe, or for lunch bags, if they’re machine-washable.
Leak-proof – The last thing you want is a soggy mess at lunchtime, so if buying a hard lunch box, look for designs that are leak-proof with proper seals.
Child-friendly – Depending on your child’s motor skills and independence, you may need to start with a product that’s simple to open and close.
The right size – We tend to pack way too much in our kids’ lunches, so think about how much realistically you’ll need to pack for your child when choosing the size of their lunch box. You may also need to consider the size of their school bags.

Pros:

With the option of four, five or six compartments, it’s easy to see why Yumbox Bento Lunch Boxes are such a hit with Australian kids. They feature handy, pre-measured half-cup serving compartments to help pack a healthy lunch and contain absolutely no BPA or phthalates. Pop it straight into the dishwasher on the top rack for easy cleaning.
Pros:
Top rack dishwasher-safe

If your little (or not-so-little) one wants a lunch bag everyone will comment on, this is it. Available in a range of stunning designs, they come with a long and strong handle and easy-use zippers. But good looks aside, what’s winning heart about these is their capacity – they hold up to seven litres of food!
After something a bit more mature? Bentgo’s Modern lunch boxes are a great option. They have a sleek matte finish in a choice of four stylish shades, including Mint Green, Orchid, Dark Grey and Navy. Each is cleverly designed with a removable divider that allows you to choose between using three or four compartments. Even better, they are leak-proof, microwave-safe and fine to pop in the dishwasher.

Finally, a kids’ lunch box that stores hot AND cold food in one place! Designed out of necessity by a problem-solving mum, the OmieBox encourages low-waste lunches and ends the need to use multiple clunky containers (which always get lost!). The spill-proof individual compartments mean no mixing of savoury and sweet, and the 280ml double-wall thermos keeps soups and pasta hot for up to six hours!
Health professionals agree that kids need a good balance of lean protein, grains, fruit and vegetables throughout the school day. Skip the processed food and try to reach for whole foods that pack a punch in the nutrient department. Here are some great ideas:
Grilled chicken or turkey wraps with fresh salad
Crackers and vegetable sticks with healthy dips like hummus
Whole-grain pasta with cherry tomatoes and your choice of cheese
Zucchini slice cut into rectangles for easy stacking in an insulated box
Getting ready for the return to school has started to kick in so this was a timely read. We have the yum box and i love it, it is so easy for my daughter to open and close on her own. I find the lunch cooler bags also a great idea however some days depending on what else needs to go to school, they can be quite bulky to include in the school bag. I need to do some more research this year as i like the idea of being able to watch it in the washing machine, that is a clever idea.
Along with all of the other back to school products; there is also a good range of lunch boxes available for people to buy. It has been fun to see the wide range of bottles and lunch boxes that are available for the new year for school and for work.
Lunch boxes have come such a long way since my eldest was a kid, he’s now 26! There’s really a solution to everything from food heating, cooling, dividers, pockets etc etc. Lunch boxes are a real fashion accessory and so on-trend these days. I personally love the Bento lunch boxes. They save on plastic and separate different foods.
I am such a huge fan of Bento lunch boxes and Bento. Food should be so many wonderful things; including delicious, fun, colourful and nutritious too. Lunch is a favourite meal because the body is ready for some more calories and a boost of energy. Food looks so good in Bento lunch boxes.
So so many fantastic options! We use the montii co ones for our kdis and swear by it. Its lasted 3 years so far and still standing strong, like new since the first day using it. They are so durable and i find cleaning them to be the easiest for us.
There are so many great lunch box option out there indeed ! I’ve always liked the Bento style lunch boxes for my kids. It reduces the use of plastic lunch bags and packaged food which aren’t very good for the environment and it encourages to present a good variety of foods (which is not only better nutrition wise but lao to prevent our kids from getting bored with same foods all the time.
There are some really fabulous options here. So many variations of colour, shape and size. I love the bento style lunch boxes, so handy to keep food separate and eliminate the use of plastic packaging. The machine washable bags are a great idea too. They can get grubby so fast, this would be so much easier to maintain
This has gotten much easier since my kids hit high school – they have strong opinions about their lunch boxes, so I don’t have to think about it so much anymore! However, I am strongly in favor of bento style boxes regardless of their age. They’re easy to clean, easy to pack, and invite appropriate sized portions.
Great article! Our kids are so lucky, when it comes to lunchboxes, they really are spoilt for choice. There are so many to pick from. Regarding sandwiches, my eldest son, used to hate sandwiches for school lunches. It wasn’t until many years later that I discovered that he’d throw out his sandwiches in the playground bins. My son’s an adult now and he still hates sandwiches. He only likes “hot” lunches. So glad he lives on his own now and can make his own “hot” lunches just the way he likes them.
This is an extremely useful article!! 2 schppl going kids and third starting kinder soon means we are always on the lookout for lunch ideas and lunch boxes. This is a great list with features and prices listed to make the search easier and help with decision making for purchasing of the lunch boxes
This is super useful article and thank you. I can see so variety of lunch boxes from every store. Always wonder which one would be more convenient to use by little hands. I love some of these lunchboxes to give it a try for this year. And then decide to go with suitable ones
Wow, lunch boxes have really come such a long way from when I was taking a lunch box to school. Feel old, like “back in my day”, but we were lucky to have options like are available now. While I like some of these designs, I feel like they aren’t super practical.
These lunchboxes are beautiful but are they really worth the expensive price tag? I have been through so many lunch boxes and bags over the years and found the best it to use an insulated lunchbox bag with ice brick and use small containers to keep individual items fresh and assessable.
I love the bbox lunch boxes. They are so reliable and tough when kids throw their bags around. Easy to wash and store. I have used the we can be tiny snackies at home too. The boys love choosing a certain animal shape. They wash well, are durable and great quality.
My kids are old enough now to pack their own lunches and I am so happy to see the great choices they are making. They take left over meals, cook food in the morning to take and now I am confident they aren’t throwing away sandwiches! I do have the chilly bags for them, I find they fit better into bags
My daughter uses a bento box now for work and sometimes an insulated bag in summer, but when she was at school it was a rectangular lunch box with no compartments. It was very easy to wash each day, just the box and lid, and it could still be filled with rolls/sandwiches and snacks.
Lunchboxes are so important these days. Back in my day it was a brown paper bag or the exact same lunch box that everyone else had and there were three compartments. Today its such a fashion statement and as much as the lunchbox itself is judged so are the contents.
I absolutely love the bb box quite sturdy. It took many lunch box to find one that would last. Before this lunch box we had a stuck on you. I found the stuck on you lunch box didn’t last when the hinge’s snapped they wouldn’t get back to me (only had for a short time and my youngest couldn’t open it so it wasn’t dropped. Just opened it after the 8th time and snapped). The bb box has lasted the last year and a half and still going strong
What a great help for busy Mommas like us. From the style to comfort and convenience, this article really put the best for our kids. Not to mention the added info about safety on what these lunchboxes were made of! I am also impressed about the organisation function of each, it seems small but woooh could put so much…thanks for sharing this article
