Chrissy Teigen has sparked yet another furious debate with her recent Instagram post.

The 32-year-old shared a sweet photo of herself and her nearly-two-year-old daughter Luna in her lap, capturing the pair going down a slide together.

‘Weeeee are very skeptical of slides right now,’ the pregnant mum captioned the picture.

But while most looked at the picture and simply saw a loving mother-daughter moment, a handful saw imminent danger and were quick to criticize Chrissy in the comments.

‘Just a heads up that this can break your little one’s leg!’ wrote one. ‘I have three friends who have had this happen!’

‘OMG this makes me cringe after seeing a friend go down the slide like this with their baby and seeing the baby’s leg break!’ wrote another.

Some explained how a child’s food can get caught between or under parents’ legs, and the force of the parent going down the slide can cause bones to break.

However, others weren’t quite so gentle about it. Snapped one: ‘You are going to hurt the kid idiot.’

Chrissy responded to concerns about the position of Luna’s leg in the photo, pointing out that a picture captures a fraction of a second in time — and this was the moment that Chrissy was lifting Luna into her lap, not sliding down the slide.

Last year we shared how an American study found that 352,698 children under the age of six were injured on slides in the US between 2002 and 2015.

  • I’m so sick of people shaming other people over innocent things. Yes it can happen but there’s no need to publicly shame others all the time

  • Oh boy I’m a bit tired of seeing mums being slammed for doing the most innocent things.

  • A lot of the slides have higher sides on them now so they are unlikely to fall off on the way down. You should always feel how hot any playground is before you allow your child on it and that includes swings. They can be hot enough to burn skin. I also make sure the kids have shoes on as the surface of the “base” of the playground can get too hot too. So can a footpath or road a child may have to walk across. However they are kids, if they get hurt but not though my neglect unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it. I just take sensible precuations. Also If they get dirty I don’t bother too much. It washes off and you have to let them be kids and have fun. As long as you wash their face and hands before they eat, including their hands before they go to the toilet and afterwards, you can bath them later.

  • Good parents make sure their children don’t get hurt on a slide and the first time down kids are really too scared to go on their own. Get a life people.

  • Honestly, people will write anything these days to get a reaction.

  • How ridiculous! I go down slides all the time with both of my kids- in one park in Brisbane there was a really big one that was a couple stories high – never hurt either of my kids or even heard of any similar stories. I’ve even done it while I was pregnant with no repercussions.

  • Oh my goodness really ?
Maybe we have to keep our kids in a house of glass on cotton pads to keep them safe !

  • There has been a lot in our media lately about this practise not being safe but I don
t think any mother should be slammed for doing it.

  • love the bonding time. its creating so much memories. ive gone down the slide when I was 2 with my father. I’m 35 and stil haven’t broken a bone or even harm myself on slides. I now get motion sickies so I’m out of slides. should I post a picture of my 2 year old going down the slide by herself and get so many judgements from mums? we need to step back in time and stop cotton wrapping our children. they wont learn once they are independent.

  • I went down the slides with all of my kids but that was back in the day when you could interact with your kids without everyone wanting to wrap them in cotton wool. My daughter is the only one that has had any issues with fractures and that was because she was pushed over at school

  • Seriously some people have too much time. How do they know she didn’t adjust her daughters leg after the photo was taken so that they were in a safer position. Why can’t we just look at the photo and see the nice mother daughter moment.

  • It’s a tiny slide, barely longer then CHrissy herself. I really don’t think there’s was room for injury. How many parents go down a slide with bub on their lap and nothing bad happening?!

  • I would not have been able to fit on the slide. I didn’t realise children could be in harm’s way by sliding down a slide with an adult.
