  • Best toothbrush ever!!!

Im am amazed with the Philips sonicate diamond clean! So amazed!!! It is the best toothbrush ever and works wonders. It comes with a dual charging system that looks great. The bristles are meant to fade when a replacement is required (haven't got that far yet) and my teeth have never felt better...

As every week goes past, I fall more in love with this amazing toothbrush! Its simply wonderful... gives my mouth such a great and perfect clean and the whitening setting actually really does work! I recommended this to one of my friends who was looking to purchase one and she purchased this one based on my experience. I can assure anyone looking for an electric toothbrush that you will not be disappointed at all. I was hesitant in what the results would be but now, I can confidently say I will never use a manual toothbrush again.. This is a product Sonicare should be extremely proud of! Well done!!!

  • Week 4 and I am completely satisfied and impressed!

This certainly gives a dentist clean .. I cannot fault the way it leaves my mouth after a complete brush! My teeth are so clean and have become whiter since using this brush and the different settings. I can tell it has improved my gum health significantly and my teeth are soooo clean! I used a manual toothbrush as a comparison last week and it felt terrible! I am totally used to the electric tooth brush feeling and I will never ever go back to a manual toothbrush! I was hesitant and unsure 4 weeks ago as to how I would like it but I can confidently say that this toothbrush gives a perfect clean and for someone with a phobia of dentists, I'm happy to say that I cannot see myself having to go back in a verrry long time! This toothbrush is amazing and really does deliver the perfect clean! 4 weeks of trialing this product and its definitely a necessity to have an electric toothbrush! Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!!

  • An amazing result from an amazing product.

My teeth feel amazing and I have experimented with all the settings. I don't get bleeding gums anymore. Only fault I can find with this toothbrush is the way you select the settings but if you use the same setting every time it will be ready for you the next time you use it. Its a fantastic brush and I highly recommend it!

  • LOVE love love (week 4)

Well I'm not really sure what more I can say in regards to how much I love our new toothbrush so I will just recap everything!

Charging- amazing charge life, love the unique way in how to charge it with the glass and also USB case

Feeling- at first it was a little unusual as I had never used one before but it was quick to get used to and my teeth and gums felt so smooth and has gotten white (here is my after shot, My lovely 6 y/o accidentally deleted my before also sorry about the lighting)

Features- I really like that it has different settings so I just went with what I felt like at the time each day of cleaning. I mainly did whitening setting due to wanting them whiter.

Overall it is a great product, recommend to anyone, does what it says and prefect feeling healthier teeth and gums!!

Thanks so much for choosing me for this review, it was a pleasure being apart of it!!

There were years of coffee and cigarette stains on my teeth and I am now noticing a slight change in colour which motivates me to clean, whiten and polish at every session. I am in love with this toothbrush, I am telling everyone who cares how awesome it is and my partner is also as impressed as I am, we are going to get another one do the kids to use too. It was my absolute pleasure reviewing this product and will continue to tell everyone how great and effective it is. It is simply like coming back from dentist every time you brush. • A Ripper

Despite my initial obstacles to finding it a bit small to hold onto, I am really happy with the clean. The small brush head was surprisingly efficient and it did a really good job. One gripe is that I'd still like to be able to use it in the shower and I can't with this fellow, but at least i'm forced to do the three step dental hygiene now - flossing, brushing, mouthwash gargle. Thanks for the trial. I think my teeth are whiter!

  • A True Diamond!

My last review and I'm happy to report that the DiamondClean is highly recommended. It is the best performing brush I have ever come across and although the minor dissatisfactions (short electrical cord) it delivers an outstanding clean. I recently visited my dentist and was informed that not only did I have no cavities that needed filling, he said my teeth were really clean. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to trial this product. It is a very welcome addition to my home and I love it!

  • Great little gadget!

It's taken a little getting used to, with its slim design and smooth surface. I find that I dribble when brushing and it drips down the brush and over my hand while I am using it. This is ok but I am concerned that you are not supposed to get the base wet so have to take extra care with that. Otherwise its great.

  • DiamondClean: A Little Gem

I've been using the DiamondClean every day and I must say I look forward to brushing with this little gem! It's easy to handle, light and the best cleaning toothbrush I've ever used. The glass is really convenient and the whole set looks so elegant. I'm happy to overlook the length of the electrical cord but if there could be an improvement - that would be it. Otherwise super happy!

  • Little Beauty!

Still getting used to the small size of the brush handle and brush, but find it really cleans my teeth. Much better than the old manual brush and the glass is really handy. Looks good too. Haven't used the little head yet, as the big head is quite small but will try it soon. Teeth are shining!

I'm enjoying brushing my teeth with the Diamondclean more and more! It leaves your teeth REALLY clean and the small brush gets into all the hard to reach places. I still have to be careful to not get the base of the brush wet while brushing buts its a very effective toothbrush!

  • I like it, a bit dainty for males but an excellent clean!

I like the look of the brush and glass set but found the brush heads a bit small. Surprisingly though, it offered an excellent clean! I took a little longer to clean my teeth than the helpful timing guide, and am yet to use the very small head. Only one head set was provided so I am sharing with my wife. Not ideal, but at least its an awesome freebie! I really like this toothbrush and it is so much better than manual brushing. Would also prefer to be able to take it into the shower though, but forces me to have better dental hygiene that includes flossing, brushing and mouth rinse. Love it!

  • Sonicare DiamondClean 300 Series: A little disappointed!

The hugely anticipated Sonicare DiamondClean 300 Series arrived today and I was a little disappointed. With a $299 price tag, I was perturbed as to why the electrical cord was so short that it would not even reach my vanity bench top, instead having to rest it on the corner of the basin, in order to reach the powerpoint. Secondly, the toothbrush barrel is made from a slippery, non gripping plastic, which means if your hands are wet, the grip is poor. Also, the brush heads are smaller than the standard toothbrush heads, so time will tell if it is more effective. I am also a little unhappy that the brush cannot be used in the shower, and must be kept dry and away from water. Personally, I like to brush my teeth in the shower, so its a little inconvenient that I have to allocate extra time to dental hygiene. So while I am very grateful to be reviewing this product, I am not so sure that I would spend so much money on an electric toothbrush with so many 'inconveniences'. I do however like the slim design, the glass to charge the brush in, looks more attractive than the traditional chargers, and the portability of the brush with its own travel case and usb charging port. Handy if you are on the go!

Mother’s instinct is a funny thing. At home, we trust it without question. But put us in a hospital setting with an unwell child, surrounded by doctors, nurses and monitors, and suddenly we start doubting ourselves.

What if I’m overreacting?
What if I’ve got it wrong?

So we stay quiet, even when we know something just isn’t right with our child. I’ve been there myself – when my usually ‘tough’ son was doubled over with stomach pain. I was told in the emergency department that it probably wasn’t his appendix. But I knew he wouldn’t have begged me to take him to hospital unless it was serious. Because I know him better than anyone. Turns out, it was appendicitis.

It’s a really common place for parents to land. You’re grateful for the care your child is getting, but at the same time, you feel this huge responsibility to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.

Here’s the thing though: that instinct you’re feeling? It matters more than you might think.

Why your gut feeling matters more than you realise

According to Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital, Leticia Jackson, parents bring something to the hospital that no test or machine ever could.

“Parents often say they ‘just know’ when something isn’t quite right with their child, and in a hospital, that gut feeling is incredibly valuable,” she explains.

Leticia Jackson, Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital

While medical teams rely on observations, tests and equipment, parents know the little details. The way your child usually smiles. How they react when they’re tired. What’s normal for them.

So when something feels “off”, even if everything looks okay on paper, it can actually be an early warning sign.

“When parents trust those instincts and speak up, this creates a powerful partnership that can sometimes catch a problem before it becomes an emergency,” Leticia says.

Worried about speaking up? You’re not alone

A lot of parents hesitate about advocating for their child.

You don’t want to come across as difficult. You don’t want to question the people caring for your child. And sometimes, you just don’t feel confident enough to push the issue.

Leticia gets it.

“It is completely understandable for parents to feel hesitant,” she says. “No one wants to be seen as difficult or to second-guess the hardworking people caring for their child.”

But here’s a helpful way to look at it: you’re not challenging the medical team, you’re helping them.

Parents are the constant. Staff change shifts, care for multiple patients, and rely on snapshots of information. You’re there the whole time, noticing the subtle changes.

“Our medical team doesn’t view a concerned parent as overreactive, but as a partner,” Leticia explains. “Your voice matters.”

Remember, we know our children better than anyone.

What to do if you’re worried: the Raise It process

If you’re in a NSW public hospital or health service and you’re worried about you or your child’s condition getting worse, there is a clear process you can follow called Raise It.

Raise It is designed to help patients, carers and family members get help fast if they’re worried about a change in their loved one’s condition.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Talk: Start by speaking to a nurse, midwife, doctor or health worker about your concerns.
  2. Ask: Still worried? Ask to speak to the nurse or midwife in charge and request a Clinical Review.
  3. Call: If you’re still concerned, you can escalate further using the Raise It process to get urgent attention from a senior health worker.

You don’t need medical knowledge. You don’t need to be certain. If you feel something isn’t right, or your child is getting worse, Raise It. You just need to speak up.

What should you actually look out for?

Sometimes it’s not one big, obvious sign. It can be small, subtle changes that just don’t sit right.

Things like:

  • Changes in breathing (fast, laboured or noisy)
  • Skin looking pale, mottled, or developing unusual rashes
  • Your child being unusually drowsy, floppy, or hard to wake
  • Confusion or behaviour that’s out of character
  • Pain that isn’t improving with treatment
  • Or simply that feeling that your child is getting worse

And sometimes, it’s just that gut feeling you can’t explain.

That’s enough.

“You are helping us, not bothering us”

If there’s one message Leticia wants parents to take away, it’s that you aren’t bothering the medical team, you’re helping them.

“In my years as a Nurse Unit Manager, I can say with absolute certainty that many critical changes in a child’s condition have been identified first by a parent. While our clinical staff are highly skilled at performing regular observations and interpreting data, parents are the only constant presence who truly know their child’s baseline behaviour, personality, and what is normal for them.

“I have seen numerous instances where a parent’s insistence that their child is “just not themselves” – despite vital signs appearing relatively stable – has prompted a deeper clinical review that uncovered everything from early signs of sepsis to a life-threatening respiratory crisis.”

The Raise It process exists because healthcare teams know how important parents are in keeping children safe.

“Speaking up doesn’t mean you don’t trust the team,” she says. “It means you’re partnering with us to make sure nothing gets missed.”

And if you’re still worried about being judged?

“Whether your concern turns out to be something or nothing, your instinct to raise it is always valid.”

  • I have learned many times to always listen to your gut and speak up when you don’t think something is right. This article was a great read, our kids are our world and if we don’t feel they are getting the right help, and we feel it, we need to speak up.

    Reply

  • You should never second guess yourself when it comes to yours or your childs health- or anyones for that matter. Go with your thoughts. It is natural to want to protect a loved one especially when it comes to health situations, and the feeling you get when you think you didnt do enough to advocate or fight for them…it is not a kind or nice way to feel. Many people have ended up being heartbroken and picking up pieces for years because of feeling they didnt do enough.

    Reply

  • A very good and informative article. I have read so many stories about mums just knowing when things are not right and demanding second and third opinions until they got the right answer. Sometimes mums just know. It is our job as care takers of our families. Listen to your gut!

  • Years ago, I spoke up for my 14-year-old daughter, but my concerns weren’t fully listened to. I’ve always wished I had pushed harder. She was sent home without much testing, and two days later, she passed away.
So, if you ever have concerns—no matter how minor—please speak up and keep advocating. Trust your instincts; they are there for a reason.

  • This is so important for parents to know how to raise it further if they don’t think their child is receiving the medical support they need! I know this article refers to the NSW system but other systems have similar procedures just with different names. I know in QLD it’s called Ryan’s Rule.

  • It’s so important to follow your gut instincts and express your concerns indeed. I have never hesitated to advocate for my children in various situations and I don’t care what other people think about it. Not all doctors and medical staff appreciate it when you question them, I’ve experienced that it may result in angry indignant responses.

  • How true this is! While nurses and doctors are the medical professionals doing their job on the daily, we know our children better than anyone and what is ‘normal’ for them. I would always speak up if I had noticed any changes in my child’s health and encourage other parents to do so too. No question is silly!

  • This really is such an important issue and a good topic to discuss with people, I am often surprised that people are worried about being judged. This is not something I care about; the priority is for the care and health of everyone is my family. Parents know their children and need to work with health professionals for the best outcomes for their children.

  • This is such an important issue to raise, and no one should ever feel ashamed, nervous or that they are being OTT for advocating for their kids, themselves or loves ones in hospital. In QLD we have Ryan’s Rule. A three step process where your concern will be escalated if they believe the patients condition isn’t improving or is worsening.

    Reply

  • I have never been afraid to advocate for my children and partner and extended family and also friends. It is so important to listen and to trust intuition. When people have not listened, I have persevered and kept on with insisting on care and making sure they truly listened and took action.
