  • Clever cooker

This has to be one of the most loved and used kitchen appliance I have in my home. I’m in love with it! It’s easy to use and can cook such a variety of dishes with no fuss and no mess. When your a mother with young children it’s nice to know that when your going to cook the family a meal, it’s going to be easy, fun, stress free and enjoyable. I like to hear my children say “this dinner is yummy mummy.” It always satisfies everyone’s tummies in my family. Winner!

  • Philips All In One Cooker

Absolutely love my Philips all in one cooker. I used it at least 2-3 time per week if not more. Working full time and with two little ones it really helps me spend more time with the family.
Once a week I make yogurt, either from scratch or from prepackaged mixes such as Easiyo. I’ve found that over time the cooker smells like curry, so I’ve been making the yogurt in jam jars. Just recently I discovered if you fill the jars 3/4 of the way with milk and two tablespoons of powdered milk, pop in the cooker with a cup of water in the bottom of the cooker, thenusing manual pressure cook, set for two minutes (turn off after a minute). Remove allow to cool to 43 degrees or lower, then add two tablespoons of yogurt. Put lids on jars and set for 9 hour on yogurt, you get a really thick yummy yogurt.
Peeling pressure cooked eggs is so easy… Cook for the same time you would on the stove, with a cup of water in the bottom, shells peel so easy. Cook your eggs on top of cut potato for 12 minutes, with a cup of water. You have potato salad ready to dress. Brilliant mashed spuds or other veggies.
Mac and cheese in less than 15 minutes. Cook pasta with enough water to just cover for 4 minutes, then switch to sauté add cream and cheese till you get the righ consistency,
Spag bol, in one pot. saute Onion and meat and rest of veggies, pasta sauce and herbs. Break spaghetti in half stir ensure pasta is just covered by liquid add more water if needed, pressure cook 15 minutes, perfect.
Even my husband throws the curries or stews in the pressure cooker when you don’t have much time to cook, perfect ever time or does a slow cook.
Okay the recipe book is not much use but if you surf the net for similar products like the instant pot, you can pretty much follow their recipes.
Would love to see a web site specifically for the Philips all in one cooker, as with all the options available to cook with in this machine, it gets confusing which method to use.
The chocolate cake recipe that comes in the book is yummy, I now cook mine in a tin with in the pot. Why heat up a whole oven and waste all that power, now I don’t have to.
Cook steamed fish with lemon juice and herbs on the rack, with a cup of water 15 minutes steam mode. Cooked a 1.8kg chicken in 26 minutes on pressure.
I could go on… Great product, now Philips lets just get a web page with recipes only for this product.

After cooking a slow cooked meal in my slow cooker for my friend she was suitably impressed and I loaned my slow cooker to her to trial. She trialled the slow cooker and she is now converted to slow cooking in a slow cooker and she put it on her Christmas list! I am waiting for my invite to dinner!

I absolutely love our slow cooker and it is our most used appliance in the kitchen. We love to put all of the ingredients in the slow cooker and turn it on and then go about the rest of the day. The food is cooked to perfection and we would be lost without it!

  • It's the Wonder Machine!

So I got home today & had 1 hour before dinner was supposed to be served. I had taken out some Beef Gravy early in the morning thinking I would make a casserole but I knew I wouldn’t have time now as the Beef needs at least an hour to cook & I would still need to chop up Veges. So I opened my pantry & found a jar of Beef Rendang Paste. I only needed to add Coconut Milk! Perfect! I quickly diced the meat, browned it then I opened the jar of paste plus the coconut milk, threw them in the Phillips together. Gave a good stir, put my Phillips on Pressure Cooker Mode & walah! Dinner ready on time & it was delicious!

  • Bolognese sauce from scratch

Every Sunday I like to cook something along traditional lines, providing I have a bit of time and a bit of thought beforehand to get all the ingredients together! On more occasions then not, that means me zipping down to the shop at 3pm desperately buying last minute missing ingredients. On this occasion, I had everything ready to put together a lasagne. I slow cooked the sauce in my Phillips All in One Cooker- the tomatoes, garlic and basil infusing into the meat so wonderfully! Another hit with Hubby and Miss 3, this Bolognese sauce was amazing.

  • Childhood comfort food revival- Afritadang Baka

One of my favourite comfort foods from my childhood was Afritadang Baka, a beef and tomato based stew recipe from my mothers homeland- The Philippines. Traditionally it would be slow cooked for hours, for the meat to tenderize, flavours to develop and the potatoes to soften.
After a busy day of taking my daughter to swim class, ballet class, brunch with friends and then a stroll around the shops- I definitely did not have ‘hours’ to make this meal! So out came my Philips All in One Cooker, using the pressure cook function- presto(!) 40 mins later I am sharing one of my favourite meals with my little girl and Hubby.

  • I'm officially an addict to my new cooker

So I thought with the cold I would make my mums pumpki soup with Granny Smith apples so once all the pumpkin and apples and stock and herbs had cooked down it was as simple as putting my hand blitzed in the all in one and giving it a quick spin to liquefy the pumpkin and apples. The pressure cooking probably only took 20 minutes but I had it set to 30 so I probably over did it the pumpkin and apples were already half broken down before I blitzed them. But nothing beats my mums recipe and now I share my secrets with my sous chef my Philips all in one cooker

There\’s something dreadfully wrong (information left out) with the Old fashioned pork fricassee recipe in the recipe book which comes with the cooker. All other recipes I have tried from the book turned out fantastic but this one……more info please !!!

  • Not happy and don't recommend

This machine is promoted as an intelligent cooker – this is not true as it has very few programs and temperature cannot be adjusted manually, which is an idiocy. Any cook should be able to adjust temperature – this goes without saying. It has never occurred to me to check it – my fault, but ability to adjust cooking temperature is one of the defining features of smart/intelligent cooking. Very unhappy.

  • Unwanted present turned out to be a godsend

I was so fortunate (read sarcastic) to be given one of these for my birthday. Surprisingly I love it. I think that I used it at least once, maybe even twice a week in winter preparing meals for everyone. It really is quite easy to use and clean. You can do so many things with this great machine. I wish that I had gotten one sooner 🙂

  • Brilliant machine

I was not chosen to review this produce by MoM, but was given one for mother’s day this year instead. I have to say that I really like having this all in one cooker. It took a bit of adjusting to at first, and it comes with a nice recipe booklet – but of course you could also download some from this website. I was so happy for winter to come so that I could use it. It’s sure getting a work out 🙂

My friend has one of these and she made us all dinner for when we all came over. The food tasted amazing and she said it was so easy to use and clean. I think I’ll be purchasing one of these soon as my current cooker has a broken lid and therefore isn’t working too well. Philips is a very reliable brand that I trust too.

  • Love it! Always on my kitchen top

I got this cooker last year on my birthday and have used it for over a year. Absolutely fantastic. Quick, clean, fast healthy cooking. I get stews and soups in 20 mins, things that use to take hour to cook. Being able to sear and saute off the ingredients in the same pot before stewing it also saves the extra cleaning up. Build in timers are fantastic for when you are in and out of the house. The only complain I have, and it’s a little one, is that I wish the lid was a flip top type lid. I have a small kitchen, and when I have to cook without the lid, it is cumbersome and takes up precious space on my little kitchen bench. Other than that, it is one of the equipment I cannot go without, right there next to my kettle and toaster!

  • Great all in one cooker

Extremly silent, no waste of liquid, very effective, no smell of cooked food. Amazing product! Congratulations Philips for a great accomplishment. I cook everthing in it and I love it. I cooked lamb feet in it and this is very smelly and takes usually one and half hours in a normal pressure cooker but after one hour in this one, no smell at all and they were totally done and yammy. This was the hardest thing to cook. The rest was easy 🙂

Brought this about 6 months ago. The more I use it the more I like it! It can be a bit of a learning process to start & YouTube has some great ideas… but it just gets better & better. The Sauté/sear function is really handy, so you can go straight from that to Slow cooking or pressure cooking without the need to use another pan. It really is one pot does all & so easy to clean. How to choose the best lunch box for school

When you’re searching for a kids’ lunch box, take the time to work out what will best suit their needs. If you make the right choice and invest in a quality one, it will last many years.

  • Box, bento or bag? If your child doesn’t like different foods touching, a bento lunch box is a great choice. Also, think about whether they prefer cut-up or whole fruit; a bento is better suited to cut food, while bags and boxes suit whole fruit. Bags are fantastic if you like to pack separate containers, like smaller bento or snack containers.
  • Freshness is a must – An insulated bag or box will keep everything cool and fresh until snack and lunchtime. But you can also get boxes that come with cold and ice packs. Remember, kids’ lunches often sit at room temperature for up to 5 or 6 hours before they’re eaten, so insulation and coolness are important. Check out how to keep school lunches safe in the heat.
  • Easy-to-clean design – Check if the box is dishwasher-safe, or for lunch bags, if they’re machine-washable.
  • Leak-proof – The last thing you want is a soggy mess at lunchtime, so if buying a hard lunch box, look for designs that are leak-proof with proper seals.
  • Child-friendly – Depending on your child’s motor skills and independence, you may need to start with a product that’s simple to open and close.
  • The right size – We tend to pack way too much in our kids’ lunches, so think about how much realistically you’ll need to pack for your child when choosing the size of their lunch box. You may also need to consider the size of their school bags.

What to put in kids’ lunch boxes

Health professionals agree that kids need a good balance of lean protein, grains, fruit and vegetables throughout the school day. Skip the processed food and try to reach for whole foods that pack a punch in the nutrient department. Here are some great ideas:

  • Grilled chicken or turkey wraps with fresh salad
  • Crackers and vegetable sticks with healthy dips like hummus
  • Whole-grain pasta with cherry tomatoes and your choice of cheese
  • Zucchini slice cut into rectangles for easy stacking in an insulated box
  • Almond-meal slice with raspberries or blueberries – or both!
  • Vegetarian sausage rolls – these freeze well and make a great meat-free lunch when cold.

  • Getting ready for the return to school has started to kick in so this was a timely read. We have the yum box and i love it, it is so easy for my daughter to open and close on her own. I find the lunch cooler bags also a great idea however some days depending on what else needs to go to school, they can be quite bulky to include in the school bag. I need to do some more research this year as i like the idea of being able to watch it in the washing machine, that is a clever idea.

  • Along with all of the other back to school products; there is also a good range of lunch boxes available for people to buy. It has been fun to see the wide range of bottles and lunch boxes that are available for the new year for school and for work.

  • Lunch boxes have come such a long way since my eldest was a kid, he’s now 26! There’s really a solution to everything from food heating, cooling, dividers, pockets etc etc. Lunch boxes are a real fashion accessory and so on-trend these days. I personally love the Bento lunch boxes. They save on plastic and separate different foods.

  • I am such a huge fan of Bento lunch boxes and Bento. Food should be so many wonderful things; including delicious, fun, colourful and nutritious too. Lunch is a favourite meal because the body is ready for some more calories and a boost of energy. Food looks so good in Bento lunch boxes.

  • There are so many great lunch box option out there indeed ! I’ve always liked the Bento style lunch boxes for my kids. It reduces the use of plastic lunch bags and packaged food which aren’t very good for the environment and it encourages to present a good variety of foods (which is not only better nutrition wise but lao to prevent our kids from getting bored with same foods all the time.

  • There are some really fabulous options here. So many variations of colour, shape and size. I love the bento style lunch boxes, so handy to keep food separate and eliminate the use of plastic packaging. The machine washable bags are a great idea too. They can get grubby so fast, this would be so much easier to maintain

  • This has gotten much easier since my kids hit high school – they have strong opinions about their lunch boxes, so I don’t have to think about it so much anymore! However, I am strongly in favor of bento style boxes regardless of their age. They’re easy to clean, easy to pack, and invite appropriate sized portions.

  • Great article! Our kids are so lucky, when it comes to lunchboxes, they really are spoilt for choice. There are so many to pick from. Regarding sandwiches, my eldest son, used to hate sandwiches for school lunches. It wasn’t until many years later that I discovered that he’d throw out his sandwiches in the playground bins. My son’s an adult now and he still hates sandwiches. He only likes “hot” lunches. So glad he lives on his own now and can make his own “hot” lunches just the way he likes them.

  • Wow, lunch boxes have really come such a long way from when I was taking a lunch box to school. Feel old, like “back in my day”, but we were lucky to have options like are available now. While I like some of these designs, I feel like they aren’t super practical.

  • These lunchboxes are beautiful but are they really worth the expensive price tag? I have been through so many lunch boxes and bags over the years and found the best it to use an insulated lunchbox bag with ice brick and use small containers to keep individual items fresh and assessable.

  • I love the bbox lunch boxes. They are so reliable and tough when kids throw their bags around. Easy to wash and store. I have used the we can be tiny snackies at home too. The boys love choosing a certain animal shape. They wash well, are durable and great quality.

  • My kids are old enough now to pack their own lunches and I am so happy to see the great choices they are making. They take left over meals, cook food in the morning to take and now I am confident they aren’t throwing away sandwiches! I do have the chilly bags for them, I find they fit better into bags

  • Love our bento b.boxes. So easy to pack. I do however worry that they’re made of plastic, not metal….

  • My daughter uses a bento box now for work and sometimes an insulated bag in summer, but when she was at school it was a rectangular lunch box with no compartments. It was very easy to wash each day, just the box and lid, and it could still be filled with rolls/sandwiches and snacks.

  • Lunchboxes are so important these days. Back in my day it was a brown paper bag or the exact same lunch box that everyone else had and there were three compartments. Today its such a fashion statement and as much as the lunchbox itself is judged so are the contents.

  • I absolutely love the bb box quite sturdy. It took many lunch box to find one that would last. Before this lunch box we had a stuck on you. I found the stuck on you lunch box didn’t last when the hinge’s snapped they wouldn’t get back to me (only had for a short time and my youngest couldn’t open it so it wasn’t dropped. Just opened it after the 8th time and snapped). The bb box has lasted the last year and a half and still going strong
